Thanks for sharing your story with us Yoconda. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started my business five years ago. I started doing photo frame props, paper flowers, personalized goodie bags for candy, corsages for baby showers. I worked on orders on my free time because I had a full-time job as an office coordinator at a hospital here in Houston. One day a lady called me to ask about a full paper flower backdrop for her baby shower.
I was nervous because I’ve never done a big project like that! I said yes, I can. I worked very hard making paper flowers and my husband helped me with the backdrop part. He had never done a wood backdrop but he made me one. The final project was beautiful. My new client was happy! From there, we started getting referrals for more paper flower backdrops. As new clients contacted us with their ideas, we started creating new things and our adventure began. We were now Nicole Creations Houston. Now we offer a wide array of services. We incorporated dessert tables, balloon work, linen rental.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No, it has not been an easy road. I have come thru a lot of challenges. First was making one of my biggest decisions in my life. I had been working at my job for 14 years as an office coordinator. I loved working with my family. They were family to me. But my business was growing and I wanted to spend more time with my kids. So I made the decision and resigned from my current job to dedicate my whole self to my business and family. A lot of thinking, a lot of tears until I made that decision. I miss my coworkers but I am happy and proud of doing what I love to do.

We are an event decorating company that our number one priority is customer satisfaction. With 15 years of customer service background, this is my most important thing. We offer superior quality on every detail, originality and professionalism.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Nothing at all. I think the way everything started it is the way it supposed to start. God had a plan for me. If its meant to be, everything will fall in place slowly. I’ve met so many wonderful people through my journey. I wouldn’t change nothing at all.
