Meet Young Lyric of Missouri City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Young Lyric.

Hi Young, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started rapping at 7 years old. Me and my dad were always in the studio and I kept telling him that I wanted to rap and one day he decided to take me serious. We started making songs, uploading them to YouTube and everything else was history. Everybody started catching on to the wave, I started being on the news for rapping, and gaining a lot of traction on YouTube just for being known as the little girl who raps. There wasn’t many of us rapping at that age and making music videos, so the ones that did, everybody knew. Fast forward to age 14, I secured a spot on Jermaine Dupree’s show “The Rap Game” on Lifetime and that took my career to the next level. We’ve come a long way from that little girl in 2007. Fast forward, eighteen years later and I’m still going hard like it’s my first day.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road is never going to be smooth. There’s been a lot of hiccups, mistakes, blessings, and everything else that you can imagine. People see the followers, the glitz and glamour, but no one ever really sees or cares about the struggles that it takes to get there. They see all of the wins in their face and think that there’s not 100 losses that it took to get here. People think once you’re famous, that it fixes everything and it doesn’t. I have struggles, I get stressed, I get tired just like the next person, but it’s up to me to keep going and that’s what I do. I keep going to make sure my baby has something to look up to. That’s what keeps me grounded and going strong like it’s the first day. The main struggle that every artist faces day-to-day is making people believe that you’re serious about your craft and to catch on before everybody else catches on and it’s time for the world to catch on!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
