Meet Youth Soul Love of The art of soul

Today we’d like to introduce you to Youth Soul Love.

Youth Soul, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Growing up I would always have talents shows for my family & at school. Michael Jackson was my favorite artist so I would watch and study him. When I was 12 years old my cousin Eric Jones taught me how to write bars, from then on I started writing my own songs and recording them. It wasn’t until I was in high school that I started to really work on my skill.

In 2012, after being in a group I decided to focus on my solo career. I was going to fashion school at HCC at the time, fashion is one of my passions as well, I then decided to really focus on my music and I released my first project YOUTH.

A couple of years after that I moved to NYC to find more opportunities in the music industry and that really opened up a lot of doors and relationships for me and is really the reason why I am where I am today.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road at all. This career has a lot of obstacles, the main two being financial backing to truly create how you want and getting the support you want from all of those around you.

What I’d say has been the biggest challenge for me though would be finding my sound and identity. It’s taken a lot of years to develop my identity as an artist. I think it’s really important, especially today, to know yourself and your sound so that you always create something original.

Please tell us about The art of soul.
I would say I’m mostly known for my versatility and energy. I not only bring music but also crazy visuals and an overall esthetic. I specialize in performing with a live band, which is super dope because no two shows are ever the same.

I think that what I’m most proud of as an artist is that I have full control of my career. I’m involved in every decision whether it’s creative or business wise.

I think that that’s what sets me apart from others, I’m not just a musician, I built a business around that and I’m growing it to be bigger than that.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory from childhood is a talent show I did when I was 8 years old. I performed and beatboxed for the first time in front of my whole school. That moment really showed me that that’s what I was meant to do and it inspired me to keep going.
