Today we’d like to introduce you to Zachary Dèvon Young.
Zachary, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am the Principle Creator and Co-Founder of Muze Office. My business background started in the music industry while working for heavy weights like Sony/Epic and other management companies for over a decade. My expertise in the digital marketing field is encompassing data analytics, predictive modeling, & behavior studies. These skill sets helped to build his digital branding company, Melodic Soul Enterprises, which was the birthplace for the Muze Office concept.
The goals I have for Muze are to build communities that foster relationships for other entrepreneurs who dare to dream big. Muze Office’s initiatives are to attract innovation and create long term business relationships and provide valuable resources for all the members. My vision is to build a work environment that people can see as a lifestyle and not just a job.
Utilizing my existing sphere of influence, I aim to create valuable strategic partnerships with innovative services for the Muze Office Members. We’ve recently acquired a partnership with Yoshi Car Services, who will be providing onsite fueling and car maintenance for all members. This is one of the many ways we plan to drive innovation and convenience for our members.
Armed with a Master’s in Business Administration and a minor in marketing, I’m determined to make this project something that will be sustainable and inspire growth amongst the Muze community. Our plans at Muze are to help not just to build businesses but to build the foundations for a dream!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road has not been a smooth one. As with any new construction, we’ve had to deal with plenty of delays, permitting hold-ups, and proposed partnerships that fell short. I believe walking into this field, I’ve learned that the coworking model is different from regular commercial real estate. The model deals with service and hospitality more heavily than that of commercial real estate. It’s a challenge daily to stay competitive and creative to keep up with the many competitors that are popping up in the market. However, it’s rewarding to be able to have something that is constantly growing and changing. My only fear walking into this is being too mundane and boring, which the landscape of coworking will ensure that it will not happen. We get to meet and touch so many great businesses and entrepreneurs.
We’d love to hear more about the company.
Our company Muze Office specializes in shared space concept working, now coined as “coworking”. Space offers flex space that creates an affordable yet appealing environment for many starts up businesses, small businesses, and individual entrepreneurs to be able to grow their business models. Space provides all in one cost solutions that include high-speed internet (1GB’s), high end coffee (expressos, lattes, etc.), snacks, water, ample free parking, receptionist service, mail service, concierge, mobile car services, and networking events. In addition, our space differs that of other co-working facilities since we are boutique, we provide some add on services that members can pay for such as our onsite bar & lounge & onsite spa services. The goal is meant to keep your work life balance in order so you can be more productive in your workday. Traffic and commute is one of the largest time wasters living in a heavily populated metropolitan area like Houston, so we want to make the most of your day by offering your life needs in a one stop shop.
Of course, as your business grows, we have private offices as well. The biggest question we get is why would I pay “X” amount of dollars for a smaller space when I can rent an office myself for less. When we are asked this question, we gladly outline the true cost of owning a business and how even a private office in a coworking model is more cost effective and less risk for growing businesses. For example, let’s say a 300 sq. ft. office would cost a business $450 in base rent monthly verses a $1,200 coworking private office. At face value, it would seem that this would cost much more, and the leased office model would be more cost effective. However, once you factor in the internet, utilities, water, coffee, parking fees, common area maintenance fees on the main building, and a long term that most require of 3 plus years, it does not seem so cost-effective for a growing business. If you were to rent with us in our private office coworking model, all of these items would be covered, and you and your employees would also have access to our kitchen and common area, which most smaller offices do not have. In addition to a full time receptionist and other amenities and perks, we can clearly see the benefits of the coworking model. We are here to be a partner for your business, so this is why coworking is the way of the future for entrepreneurs!
What were you like growing up?
One of my favorite memories as a kid was living in a large household with four of my brothers. Growing up in a large home, you get a good sense of community, and having older siblings that were over 15 years apart helped to mold my business acumen and maturity at a young age. We didn’t come from much, but because I was exposed to things ahead of my time, I was able to grow substantially quicker.
