Today we’d like to introduce you to Zaria Woods
Hi Zaria, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
From an early age I’ve always been captivated by the transformative power of hair and makeup. At around 8 years old I would admire my mother meticulously style her hair and do her makeup everyday. Until one day she asked me to put her lashes on for her. Excited by how natural it came to me and how proud she was of my application I wanted to learn more.
Driven by passion that grew stronger as I got older I started Cosmetology school at 16 and graduated high school with my liscense. That was almost 10 whole years ago!
I have gained experience at some of the most prestigious salons that pushed me to excel and continuously expand my knowledge on high-end techniques with my own personal touch. I have been making women smile in my chair since 2015.
Trusting myself and my talents are what lead me to opening my very own salon suite right here near The Woodlands. I’m so excited to share this exciting new chapter in my professional journey with you. I hope my story can inspire others to trust themselves and build a vision around their skills set.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Most of my struggles were in the beginning of my career. Fresh out of Cosmetology school and being younger than most stylist starting out I was very intimated and lacked confidence. As my experience behind the chair expanded and more clients returned to my chair satisfied that quickly became less of an issue.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a cosmetologist. I specialize in special occasion hair and makeup. I am mostly known for my updos and bridal looks. I am most proud of every smile on my guest face from their salon visit. Something that sets me apart is I am able to work with all hair types and textures. From silky straight to kinky curly. I was actually curls certified by surface hair back in 2018. Not everyone is into wigs and weaves. I have long natural hair myself and helping other take care of their natural hair texture is an honor for me.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I’ve always been a bubbly person. I enjoy talking to people, laughing, and making genuine connections.
