Today we’d like to introduce you to Zee and Ak Harrison.
Zee and Ak, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Krab Kingz Franchise originated in Houston in 2016. My husband and I traveled from Cypress, literally, every weekend to Antoine Dr. for delicious crab and shrimp. However, these crab and shrimp platters were not just your average platters. They were full of that perfectly seasoned cajun boil flavor. While there, on one of our frequent weekend visits, we were greeted by the founder – Brandon Martin. He was a military veteran with a passion for not only great food but serving the community with great customer service. My husband and I were very impressed by not only the taste and quality of the food but by the upstanding values, the Krab Kingz brand represents. These values reminded me personally of values that were instilled in me during my six-year enlistment in the Worlds Greatest-United States Air Force, where I learned much of my culinary skill.
My husband, a Prairie View A&M Engineer Graduate c/o 2009, Ak Harrison, instantly understood Martin’s vision and wanted to invest in the franchise. We have always had a dream to utilize our business mindset to give back to the community. In our household, our core values are planted in “To whom much is given, much will be required”. With this being said, we got to work and in June 2019, I took a leap of faith and left my job as a VA Nurse to run our business. We opened our food truck in Cypress on June 22nd, 2019, with the passion of providing high-quality Cajun seafood to our local area-as. We are residents of Cypress as well!
Business took off and the influx of business has forced us to move into a brick-and-mortar restaurant in an effort to extend our menu and provide a cool environment for people to take a load off from all of the negativity around us in 2020. Many people have asked us “You want to open up a full restaurant now with everything going on?” Our reply has been, “We can’t think of a better time than now to bring people together over great quality food and positive vibes!” We have huge plans to bring people together as safely as we can during this pandemic. Krab Kingz Cypress has had to adjust just like everyone else. However, our mission will never change despite this pandemic- Our customers will receive great quality fresh seafood and exceptional customer service!
Has it been a smooth road?
Along the way, COVID-19 has hit the restaurant industry hard, from employment to food supply. We’ve had to frantically search for great quality vendors to supply our seafood. Many restaurant suppliers had to shut down completely or had a limited supply of food. When everything shut down worldwide, we had to close our business because the quality of the food we received did not meet our standards and for the safety of our staff. Since then, we have reopened and implemented safety protocols as well as partnered with great quality vendors and hired dependable employees.

We specialize in Cajun Style Seafood. Krab Kingz Cypress offers Krab Leg Clusters, Shrimp, Sausage, Boiled Egg, Sweet Corn and Potatoes in a Signature Garlic Butter sauce so good you’ll have to come back for more!
Our mission is to treat each and every customer like they are our only customer while providing high-quality Cajun Seafood. Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
We love the diversity and culture of Houston! The music, food, and nightlife of Houston are second to none! Being as populated as we are in the greater Houston area, TRAFFIC SUCKS! It’s nothing worse than being stuck on the highway in Houston during rush hour.
