Petra Lopez on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Petra Lopez. Check out our conversation below.

Petra, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What do you think others are secretly struggling with—but never say?
I think many people quietly struggle with feeling overwhelmed while still trying to appear completely composed. Whether it’s workload, life stress, or pressure to perform, most people don’t want to admit when they’re stretched thin. I try to be mindful of that in a team setting — checking in, offering help, and communicating clearly so no one feels like they have to carry everything alone.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I built this business from the ground up while raising five kids and working through some major life challenges — and that’s a huge part of what makes my brand different. I understand firsthand how life can stack up, how quickly a home can shift from manageable to overwhelming, and how much trust it takes to let someone into your space.

My specialty is detailed, high-standard cleaning and restoration work. I offer everything from routine maintenance and deep cleans to trauma and biohazard services. I’m also expanding into remodel support, demo-to-rebuild projects, and government contract work.

What sets me apart is the level of care I bring. I don’t cut corners, I communicate clearly, and my clients know they can rely on me in situations where precision and compassion matter. I’m proud of the work I do, and I’m excited for the growth ahead — especially expanding into larger-scale projects and refining systems that support both my clients and my team.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
The relationship that shaped me most has been the one I built with myself. I’ve gone through situations that forced me to grow up fast, take responsibility, and learn to trust my own judgment. That self-reliance shows in how I run my business — I’m dependable, I show up, and I take pride in doing things the right way.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me how strong I actually am — not in a loud way, but in the quiet, steady way of getting up and doing the next right thing even when everything hurts. Success didn’t teach me that. Hard moments taught me compassion, patience, and how to truly understand what other people might be carrying.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My friends would say I care about people — truly. I’m the one who checks in, listens, and pays attention. They’d say I notice the things most people look past.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people say that I showed up for others — that I was strong when life was hard, kind when people needed softness, and dependable when it mattered most. That I left things better than I found them, whether it was a home, a business, or a person.
