Rising Stars: Meet Anastasiia Koziuberda of Houston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anastasiia Koziuberda.

Hi Anastasiia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Anastasia, and I’m a violinist originally from Ukraine. When I was just 4 years old, my parents enrolled me in violin lessons. A funny fact: I used to watch orchestras on TV and pretend to be a violinist using toy rakes and a little shovel. I truly love what I do, even though at times it hasn’t been easy, and there were moments when I wanted to quit completely.

Back in Ukraine, I started performing at events as part of a string trio. For a teenager, it was an unforgettable experience. Later, after moving to Germany, where I lived for two years, I continued building my career and performed at art gallery exhibitions, conferences, and small theaters. That was a major step forward for me, and I still look back on those moments very warmly.

I moved to the United States almost two years ago, and it completely changed my life. Here, I truly immersed myself in learning and growing in my current work, and I’m very grateful to my colleague who helped me along the way. I’ve performed at all kinds of events – weddings, parties, proposals, and corporate events. I started working and gaining clients very quickly.

What brought me to where I am today was my determination and an incredible amount of hard work. Constantly creating ideas and bringing them to life required so much time and energy. I started with a used JBL speaker that I bought with money honestly earned from cleaning jobs and babysitting services, haha, along with the violin I brought with me from Ukraine.

As I kept improving my social media, branding, and overall business functionality, I became deeply passionate about the process. It turned into a personal challenge for me – growing my presence and popularity.

I also want to give special thanks to my partner, who has supported me throughout this entire journey and helps me in every possible way to improve the quality of the work that means so much to me.

I want to admit that the intense pace of work over the past two years has exhausted me. Even though I deeply love my work and my business, I became a little burned out and almost forgot how to truly rest. So now I’m trying to focus more on taking care of myself and learning how to rest properly, so I can have the energy and inspiration to continue doing what I love.

I’m happy with where I am now, but I still want to grow even more – improving my equipment, expanding the format of my performances, and reaching a higher level for myself. But I’m only 22. Life is just beginning, right?

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This journey has not been smooth, mainly because of one major challenge – the language barrier. My English is absolutely enough for my work, but not yet for truly comfortable everyday living here. Although maybe I underestimate myself too much and overthink it sometimes… I continue studying English as much as I can in my free time, and it still remains one of my biggest insecurities. The cultural differences as well.

You know that feeling when you can’t fully fit into a group? I often experience that at work when communicating with other vendors. The truth is, I’m actually a very shy person, and that’s another part of myself I still have to overcome.

But in my opinion, there are very few easy paths in life anyway.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a musician who professionally performs at many different types of events – though nowadays, mostly at weddings and proposals. I’m known as a violinist who brings atmosphere and emotion to people’s beautiful celebrations. I’m also known for my persistence, no matter what.

What I’m most proud of is that no matter how difficult and complicated my journey has been, I continue to grow and improve. “No matter what” is probably my favorite phrase, honestly.

What sets me apart from others? I actually don’t like that question, because everyone stands out in their own way. We’re all unique, hardworking, and persistent in different ways. I think that’s all I can really add.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I believe in luck, but I don’t think it played a major role in my life or business. Like I mentioned before, it was most likely hard work that brought me to where I am today and helped me build what I have now.

I left my home country, Ukraine, on my own because of the war when I had just turned 18 years old. I started a completely new life in Germany, and later moved to the United States, where I had to start over once again.

More than luck, it was persistence, ambition, and the constant desire to grow and move forward.
