Today we’d like to introduce you to Arissa Hatcher-Hayden.
Hi Arissa, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
In 2014, I graduated from East Texas Baptist University (ETBU) with a Business Marketing Degree and wanted to go into business for myself. So my best friend, Mark Gray, and I started creating websites for small businesses to get our names out to the public for more business. Time goes on, and we were not making any haste to becoming a web design company, so we let it go. My best friend went in a different direction and I went into teaching and completely left web design alone.
As a teacher, we have different side hustles to help us maintain because teaching alone does not help keep the bills paid! A co-worker of mine was talking about her business and stating that she needed someone to do a website for her. I told her that I would do it for free to help build my web design portfolio. That moment alone helped me realize that I can start creating web designs again by helping my fellow teachers get their businesses off the ground. In that moment, AEH Web Designs & Co. was created.
I begin to attend different marketing, web design, and social media managing classes to help enhance my craft to the next level. Slowly but surely, connecting with the right people helped me gain the consistent flow of designs for my portfolio.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
This has definitely not been a smooth road in entrepreneurship. I am a Wife, Mother, and Doctoral Student. There have been so many sleepless nights that I have lost count! There have been plenty of times when I have had to refund potential clients because time was not on my side to assist them in an appropriate time manner. Nonetheless, all of these challenges are lessons to keep pushing forward with better systems in place to help execute any challenges that are upcoming.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in small business start up by creating web designs and marketing boards for business owners. I make sure that I capture all of my clients’ dreams by putting them into a digital reality for them to love for their own brand! I am mostly proud of the growth that I have conquered. Being able to see the growth in each design that I have created has been such a blessing and joy to my life.
What sets me apart from others is that my business is here to HELP small business owners and not break their pockets. My prices are 40% lower than the average web design and marketing industry. Also, I am a person that walks by faith! When you meet me for business or personal matters, you have a friend forever that will consistently help you grow your business.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
The most important lesson that I learned from the COVID-19 crisis is that you are replaceable. I saw so many jobs replace people that it was unreal! I instantly realized that I had to make my small business into my 9-5! The pandemic created so many entrepreneurs and I was here for it all! I made sure that when those small business owners reached out, I was able to help their businesses in every way that I could.
