Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Harris.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hey, friend! My name is Brittany, owner of Roastic Coffee Co. Shortly after being laid off in 2021, I found myself feeling unwanted and defeated. Over the next couple of mornings, it hit me. The time I usually spent brewing my coffee and silently cursing out my manager in my head was now dedicated to wallowing in self-pity. I needed to get back into the swing of things, starting with my coffee. Y’all, I brewed my coffee, took that first sip, and at that moment, I realized getting laid off was a blessing in disguise. I no longer had to deal with a toxic work environment, and this was my opportunity to start something new! That little cup of coffee made me feel normal again! My morning routine was sort of back in full effect and I felt like I could take on the world. So, I started thinking. I want to create my version of liquid happiness and motivation for my fellow adults who are just trying to make it.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Oh, heck no! One of my biggest struggles was trying to figure out how to get started! There’s so much information out there and it can all be so overwhelming. I also struggled with finding a good quality roastery but luckily, I was able to find one and our business relationship has blossomed into something amazing!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Shortly after getting laid off, I was able to find another job. During the week, I work as an insurance adjuster but on the weekends, all my time is happily dedicated to Roastic.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is to stop self-sabotaging and believe in myself. I’ve made numerous mistakes because I’ve either second-guessed myself or lacked confidence in my decision-making abilities. I’m working on this now, though!
