Rising Stars: Meet Caleb Baldwin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Caleb Baldwin.

Hi Caleb, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Yes, of course. I’m Caleb but I go by Calo The Prophet, simply known as Calo. I started rapping in the seventh grade but I released my first song sophomore year. That was in 2018. Since then, I’ve trained to improve and always become better than I was yesterday.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Of course not. Since when has any journey to success been a breeze for anyone? I’ve had my share of hardships. Mentally and physically, but my greatest challenge yet is giving up.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As far as work goes, I think I’m far from a pro. I mean of course, I have projects and pieces of work that I feel puts me in a different zone. For what I am aiming at? I strive to fulfill myself in every word that I write, or bar that I drop. This goes for my unreleased work as well.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I wouldn’t call it advice on my end. I’m not even sure if I have a mentor at this point, but I will say this; keep your name in the conversation. Be an echo in someones’ ear. If somebody is having a conversation about a category or occupation that you have work in, your name should pop up somewhere in that discussion. For myself, I wouldn’t hit up blogs or pay for a bunch of promotion at first. But rather jam out with local artist or even do freestyles for party goers. Then I just let my wave tide up from those discussions and genuine curiosity.
