Sure! My journey started during a time when I was searching for purpose beyond my role as a stay-at-home mom. My twins were 18 months old, and my former business partner and I were both navigating big personal challenges—she had just gone through a pregnancy loss, and I was trying to balance the chaos of early motherhood.
We wanted an escape, a creative outlet that would let us feel productive and build something meaningful. As an industrial designer, I saw the opportunity to create something unique, and that’s how Maria Victoria was born. It became our little passion project, rooted in the belief that handmade, beautiful, and functional products could bring joy to people’s lives.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I’ve come to appreciate the bumps along the way because they’ve shaped who I am today. One of the biggest challenges was when COVID-19 hit. Almost overnight, our orders were canceled, and I had to move all our inventory from a third-party logistics provider into my garage. I remember sitting there, surrounded by boxes, wondering how we were going to bounce back.
But instead of giving up, I picked up the phone and started calling clients one by one. It was humbling but also incredibly rewarding because those calls helped me rebuild not just the business, but also the relationships that form its foundation.
Another challenge has been balancing the demands of the business with my personal life. As a mom of twins, there were times I felt like I had to choose between being present for my family and growing the business. Over time, I’ve learned the importance of prioritizing and setting boundaries, but it’s still a work in progress.
Through it all, I’ve leaned on the support of my family, especially my husband, who has been my rock and my biggest cheerleader. Each struggle has taught me resilience and reinforced my belief in the power of community and creativity.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my favorite childhood memories is from when I was in 7th grade. I wanted a cellphone so badly, but I knew I had to earn it myself. So, I started selling candy at school, hustling between classes and during lunch breaks. Watching my little business grow and finally being able to buy my first cellphone was such a proud moment for me. It wasn’t just about the phone—it was about realizing that with hard work and determination, I could achieve my goals. That lesson has stayed with me ever since.
