Today we’d like to introduce you to Cathy “CaDori” Marshall.
Hi CaDori, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was once homeless many years ago when my children were toddlers. This was long before I became a Registered Nurse. I was leaving an abusive marriage. I stayed in a shelter for a few weeks with my daughters at the time. I vowed back then that one day I would be able to give back to shelters and help people just like I was being helped.
July 2017, approximately one month prior to Hurricane Harvey, I founded my non-profit charity CaDori Helping Hands Inc. We were able to help hundreds of families with food, water and daily living essentials during Hurricane Harvey and we have not stop helping people in need since then.
I have a heart for giving and helping others makes me happy. I’ve worked as a Registered Nurse for the past 23 years and I’ve worked through the Pandemic in the Emergency Room and ICU. Currently, I’m assisting homeless shelters and women who are victims of domestic violence. And I frequently give to the Houston Food Bank. I also have a partnership with The Women’s Resource Houston that assist teen-age girls who are in need of school supplies and other items to help them through middle school and high school. My long-term goal is to help end hunger, assist the homeless population to find permanent housing and to help women love themselves even more by teaching them that self-love comes first.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
No, it has not been a smooth road. Recently I went through a tough divorce three years ago. I was married for 24 years to a Narcissist and one day he just walked out on the family without saying a single word. I’ve had to get a lot of mental.
Mental Health Therapy since then. Today I and much better and I share my story with other women and men who need to hear it. I promote self-care and self love everyday now that I’ve learned to love myself first.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an Entrepreneur and the Owner of CaDori Brand LLC, which is I LOVE ME apparel and self-love items. I am the Founder of CaDori Helping Hand, Inc, which is a non-profit charity that helps homeless people, domestic violence victims, and single moms. I am a Registered Nurse with 23 years experience in the Emergency Room and ICU. I recently worked through the Pandemic.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Yes, it’s very important to read as much as you can about the business area that you are going into. Find Mentors who have been successful in what you want to do. Know that there will be failures/lessons to learn from but don’t give up. Every successful person has had to work through these challenges and keep pushing forward.
