Rising Stars: Meet Chancellor Roberson of Houston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chancellor Roberson.

Hi Chancellor, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Chancellor Roberson is a Houston-based behavioral health professional, youth advocate, and community strategist with over 15 years of dedicated service across education, public health, and violence prevention. Known for his compassionate leadership and trauma-informed approach, Chancellor has impacted thousands of lives through mentorship, crisis intervention, and culturally grounded outreach.
Currently serving as a Director Of Community Affairs and Qualified Mental Health Professional in the Non-Profit Sector; Chancellor leads young people toward academic success and emotional stability using evidence-based strategies and healing-centered engagement. His experience spans urban schools, psychiatric hospitals, and public health departments, including frontline roles with Harris County Public Health and Harris Health Systems, where he co-piloted hospital-based violence intervention programming. Chancellor also works with a collaborative outreach of lived experience mentors to decrease juvenile recidivism rates.
Chancellor specializes in behavior assessments, community education, credible messenger mentoring, and cross-sector community coordination. His work is rooted in restoring dignity, hope, and safety in underserved populations, particularly among youth impacted by trauma and systemic neglect.
A servant leader and resilient advocate, Chancellor continues to build bridges between public institutions and the communities they serve—helping shape safer schools, healthier families, and a more equitable future.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Personal growth is always a bumpy road, so maintaining a good image for others to look up to while creating meaningful relationships with youth and community members can be a challenge. I always try to put my best foot forward, learn to anticipate change and participate in as much professional development as possible.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a community advocate giving voice to those who have been systematically muted; rendering aid to an under served community through mental health, job training, food pantry and the basic needs for survival. I pride myself on meeting my clients where they are and helping them gain the tools to change their situation. I specialize in understanding and cultural differences. I believe my diverse background in mental health, crisis intervention and education gives me a unique outlook on the community and multiple approaches to assisting an individual or family. I’m most proud of being able to empower others to overcome and prevail in the face of adversity.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t believe in luck. I believe we are where we are supposed to be and that can sometimes look good or bad. I’m grateful for being able to learn from either situation.
