Rising Stars: Meet Christie Renee Pierre

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christie Renee Pierre.

Hi Christie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m 25 years old I’m originally from Palm beach County Florida, I moved to Houston in March of this year. Doing hair has always been my passion for as long as I can remember. I learned how to do hair from my mother( who was also a hairstylist) at a very young age. I began doing my own hair when I was in middle school/high school, and people would always ask me, “who did your hair?”. When I would tell them I did it myself, they would ask me to do there’s and that’s how it all started. It started off as something I did for fun and a way for me to make money while I was in school, I didn’t know then that being a hairstylist would be my career. After high school, I joined the military and even while I was in basic training, I would do the other girl’s hair. During my first couple of years in the military I slowed down on doing hair but towards the end of my enlistment, I was right back at it. I got out of the military in 2020 and decided to become a full-time hair stylist and dedicate all of my time and energy to perfecting my craft. In 2022 I was blessed enough to receive a scholarship from TRESemmé for Cosmetology school. I am now currently a full-time Cosmetology student and I will be graduating in January.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the major obstacles I’ve had so far is building my clientele. I’m not originally from Houston, so I had to start from scratch. I know that if I stay consistent with social media marketing, as well as passing my business cards out, I will have the clientele that I aspire to have one day. This journey has not been easy but I know in the end it will be well worth it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am most known for my braids but I do many other styles such as Sew-ins, silk presses, locs, natural styles& creative styles.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I like the most about Houston is its diversity and culture. What I like the least is the traffic.
