Rising Stars: Meet David Guevara

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Guevara.

Hi David, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Where I got to where I am today? Having a crazy obsession with always wanting to do my best!!

I was always in love with the idea of music since I was little, I remember banging the crap out of the piano and having those first notes ring throughout the house. Genuinely wanting to learn to play led to me learning 6 more instruments and having an even crazier passion for music.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road, I feel like I can speak for all of us when I say growing up and even now I definitely struggle a lot with anxiety, but truthfully I think that my anxiety is stemmed from insecurities of not being able to be who I am or want to be, and that definitely ties into my music ESPECIALLY with my band The Telebastards.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
In regards to work, I’m a studio/live audio engineer and what I do is take the sound that is produced and make it sound GOOD! I work a lot with frequencies and analog equipment that help me make my job easier and better.

I’m most proud of getting work with such great artists and bands, definitely my favorite show I’ve worked on lately was probably Beach Goons or Surf Curse which sets me apart from others. Definitely doing more live sound instead of a studio. I LOVE the live sound.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
In 5-10 years??? Big change! Not only in my craft but especially with my band.

We have a lot planned these next two years. Later this year we intend on releasing our big debut ep and it’s something that we’ve been pouring our blood sweat and tears into for the last 2 years.
