Rising Stars: Meet Demarlo DOWNEY of Other / Not Applicable

Today we’d like to introduce you to Demarlo DOWNEY.

Hi Demarlo, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
This week I filmed 2 MAJOR music videos! One was called CAN’T STOP WINNING I rented a night club with 9 rooms I booked all 9 rooms & a Brooklyn new York artist named bonasty was in the city for 3 days so I had to write the song get the song record & found/booked a very nice venue for the music video! It was an amazing vibe one of the best to date & I pulled it off in 3 days notice I am an independent recording artist who has invested extensively in my career through self-funded music releases, marketing campaigns, and visual content with a proven track record. Throughout my career, I have demonstrated a strong commitment to my craft by independently funding and releasing 29 professional music videos, as well as participating in approximately 20 media interviews about my life and promotional appearances. My work focuses on authentic storytelling, cultural expression, community engagement, and artistic excellence. The funding will allow me to work with professional producers, engineers, videographers, photographers, and marketing specialists to create content that meets industry standards while maintaining artistic integrity. My goal is to continue building a sustainable career in the music industry.

To date, I have independently financed and released 29 professionally produced & directed music videos, with production budgets ranging from approximately $3,200 to $10,000. This includes securing a full-sized movie theatre for my recent project and music video, “Prada Shades.” I have also independently rented approximately 12–16 upscale nightclubs all over downtown and eight premium event venues for various productions. These investments have enabled me to build an extensive portfolio of work while establishing a distinctive and recognizable artistic brand.

In addition to my music releases, I have participated in approximately 20 media interviews, helping expand my audience and increase public awareness of my work. These opportunities have strengthened my professional profile.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I started rapping the day I got out of jail, I went down for a broadlight stabbing in downtown & my case was on cp24 news. I told myself It’s time to get productive & I never looked back, I had an ankle monitor on for 4 year while waiting for a trial & at my trial I got convicted & sentenced to 8 years condition sentence meaning I get ONE chance & of I get arrested or mess up I have to do the rest of the time in the pen until September 2029…. It’s been a HUGE blessing & perception is everything, so I look at it like God has given me one chance to get things right & I have been living my purpose.
Hard times are a blessing because it has given me endless fire to level up & better the loves of my family

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I love creating music videos from inception & writing songs then putting it all together & watching it turn into a master piece! I just filmed my 29th personal music video & released 4 original albums!

My life has been a movie so the lyrics come easy to me, I love sharing my story & inspiring others who look up to me! I finally got off of house arrest in February this year & bought a range rover cash so no payments! Success is the only option

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I love taking risk & living life to the fullest! The bigger the risk the bigger the reward! Every dolla I spend on music is an investment into the future, I am build a legacy & my personal brand yes it’s risky spending all my extra money on productions but I know it will all pay off and I will eventually live an amazing life & have a mega mansion one day! I aspire to be a music legend & have a mega lifestyle
