Rising Stars: Meet Devin Williams of Houston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Devin Williams

Hi Devin, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Ive always had a passion for modeling growing up as a kid. I remember being young at my great aunts house walking down her hallway as if it was my runway and she would be in the back supporting me and feeding into what I believed was real. I didn’t feed into my passion until it was pre quarantine era, as a freelance model. My mom used to be a model back in her time but she had me so i guess you can say i’m making up for her (laughing). She would help me look for casting calls in the houston area. I found one casting call and auditioned for it and was told NO… at that time that really struck me hard but i used that “No” as fuel and I tried again……”No”….tried again! Then I was casted! I never had no experience walking on a runway but on the night of the show, A fire sparked and woke up a whole new alter, a person who i knew existed but i just needed to wake him up. After that first show I did my first official photo shoot (Red and White Look) with Photographer-Cameron Perry and Stylist-Mendel McCoy. That shoot founded the love that I already had with the camera. After that quarantine was set in place but that didn’t stop me from getting sign with my Mother Agency out in Seattle Washington- Heffner Management.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has not always been smooth. In the Industry it can be very easy to get lost in your insecurities. Blindly comparing yourself to other models, The fast paced of it all can be very hectic and a bit too much and even more if you’re and anxious person like myself. You’ll soon to realize that all models are meant to be different and unique in their/our on way.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Im a Model Signed here in Texas and as well in Seattle Washington. I do mostly Commercial work (Ecomm) but would love to get in High Fashion Runway and Editorial! Which will soon happen!

Diverting from Modeling i also am an aspiring Music Artist. Just now dipping my foot in the water but I’ve always had a crazy itch for music. I live and breathe it! I write my own song, even produce my own beats if the vibe is right and smooth. I gravitate more towards Pop and R&B.

I get my inspiration from Brandy! Love love love Brandy! also Beyonce! Sabrina Claudio , Michael Jackson, Usher, Justin Timberlake and other artist who have been in the game and made a platform for themselves.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Networking is the number one thing you’ll need in order to get connected or stay in loop of whats going on or what will take place in your local area. Make acquaintance with people who revolve around your niche and try to maintain that healthy line of communication. Closed mouths don’t get feed!
