Today we’d like to introduce you to Diana Fajardo De Cerrato.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Born in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. I arrived with my family in 2012 in September. At first, it was not easy to adapt to a new country and a new life. We were looking for job opportunities. My mother convinced me that she would take an acrylic nail class that she knew I would like and that I had the talent it took to learn. I took it with sacrifice in December 2012, and with the help of my family and boyfriend, I finished it. We thought it was the only thing she was going to need to work in a salon doing nails. The surprise was when I looked for work and I realized what I need. My mother insisted me again and with her, we enrolled in cosmetology school in February 2013. My boyfriend who is now my husband worked 7 days a week, with 2 jobs in order for me to study full time and get my Nail Technician license quickly, in 7 months after I left school. Since then, I have not stopped doing nails. I have 8 years of experience and I have tried all the ways of working in this business, at home, working for salons, renting space in salons, business with society, salon rental, working from home. Two years ago, we made the decision to open with my husband Diana’s Nails Spa and even though we only had 6 months of operation when the covid-19 pandemic began, we have grown with the business and passed every test with God’s blessing.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a difficult road, especially because of the language and the working capital.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Some people since childhood have known that they like the world of nails and wanted to dedicate themselves to that in their adult life. This career came to me of expiration. I tried and I loved it. I have always been a creative and artistic person, and I love meeting my clients, pamper them with my services and those of my team is my pleasure. I think what makes it different from other nail service and personal care businesses is that we are focused on quality of work and service and not time.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I believe in good luck, but more than that, I believe in my God, in perseverance, attitude and hard work that make us grow as individuals and professionals.
