Rising Stars: Meet Drea Williams

Today we’d like to introduce you to Drea Williams.

Hi Drea, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
When I first started modeling I modeled for my hairstylist Tina, it was our first meeting and I honestly started singing for her first then she invited me to sing and model for her agency.

I was a very shy kid, so being able to do this helped boost my confidence and I really thank Tina for that.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Oh, it has definitely had its ups and downs. I feel ultimately the game is set up to where “art” is not being a major focus anymore. I have had issues with a photographer that made me stop modeling for a while. My struggle is I’m not willing to do any and everything that doesn’t feel good to me in order to achieve my dream.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I love to sing, I love to model. I have been singing since I was 8 years old and modeling since the age of 12. I can’t sing unless I feel emotionally connected, it has to mean something. Modeling for me is sexy, confidence, boldness. Being in front of the camera creates a alter ego so to speak for me. I come into my own, I really come alive and it’s because I am in control. I am most proud that I have overcome so many obstacles, self doubts. I love myself and I’m not afraid to be me. That is what sets me apart, I’m hungry and not in the way where I will fold on something that doesn’t align with who’s I am.

How do you think about happiness?
I was just talking to my friend about this, I am happy. I must say it took a long time to get here. Yes,I used to really struggle with confidence and insecurities in different aspects of my life. It really affected me but I’ve grown a lot. I’m happy with myself, I’ve grown up a lot. I have joy and the thing about that, the world didn’t give that to me so the world can’t take it away.
