Today we’d like to introduce you to Dwayne Pano.
Hi Dwayne, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I spent 20 years in urban camp ministry in some capacity. My wife was a schoolteacher and in the summers I was running camps. We would never get time together. The Thanksgiving before the pandemic I was required to be in the office and my boss took his family on vacation out of the country. I remember sitting at my desk frustrated that my kids didn’t have options. It was at that moment that I realize sitting at somebody else’s cubicle was not going to give my family the life that I imagine we will have when I was younger. During the pandemic, I studied and got my real estate license and that fall. I jump full-time in the real estate. that was five years ago and since then I’ve added Life Insurance to my tool belt because I started hanging out in different rooms and understanding how wealthy people move money around through Life Insurance. It’s a strategy that no one talks about, but we also created money camp for kids to teach kids financial literacy through all the skills I inquired while running camps and being in charge of programming
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been smooth at all all the time. In the beginning after quitting my full-time job and running out of money, it was four months before I had a closing two years later my wife had a TIA, which is a mini stroke in my business tank I wasn’t making phone calls to check in with people. I was just making sure that my spouse wasn’t about to die. But through that time, is when we started discovering the other passions that we wanted to teach.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
From a real estate standpoint, I help people buy and sell homes. With money Kamp for kids, we teach kids about how money works in the real world through the arts of playing games. And with our Life Insurance business, we just teach people how it is a different type of strategy for building wealth. It’s protecting your family all at the same time.
What makes you happy?
What makes me happy is building a life for my kids that I didn’t have when I was growing up. My father was murdered when I was five and my mom struggled at times. I didn’t want my kids to go through the same type of struggles I did as a kid. They are my biggest motivation.
