Today we’d like to introduce you to DyShalaye Boyd.
Hi DyShalaye, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi, most may know me by Duck but my actual name is DyShalaye (Dye-Sha-Lay) I am apart of a non-Greek auxiliary called Alpha Angels Inc. at The Wiley College, my line name is AngeIIic Goddess. The name stuck with me to where it became a lifestyle I wanted to uphold myself to the Goddess aura. I started a brand in school 2017 Goddess Essentials, I sold lashes, purses, shades, during covid I sold great quality silk mask. Anything a woman could use to make herself feel better whether big or small to keep her feeling like her inner Goddess self I sold.
Over the years as I grew bigger started doing vendor events I started to call my customers “Goddess Gang”. The name stuck so much. I changed it from Goddess Essentials to Goddess Gang because it fit my personality and my style more, I went from selling to only women to branching it off to a unisex brand. It’s been 9 years in the making now since rebranding
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It started off smooth because I was in college everything I did sell was everything the college girls needed especially if they couldn’t get a ride off campus. After I had my daughter it got difficult to maintain my business due to her having Down Syndrome my schedule changed completely so I put it on hold for a few years.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Due to the schedule and sacrifices I make because of my daughter, I am a full time mommy that’s the greatest job I could ever have. I specialize in supporting and letting her be herself. I built her a brand “Peace Love & Patience” in support of her journey with Down Syndrome. The free time I have from that I also pick up substitute jobs when I have the time.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
Journaling has been my favorite right now! Writing and being able to be expressive beyond other’s expectations and opinions.
