Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica Whittington
Hi Erica, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have been in the real estate field for over 12 years now and always moved with the market. Commercial Real Estate has always been my passion from day 1. For years I went back and forth, tried different companies and brokerages and I held down part time jobs while trying to build my career. About 5 years ago I decided to take myself and my career more serious. I hit many goals over the years but wasn’t surrounded by the right partner in life and it hindered my growth. In 2023 I went all in for myself and with my personal life changing I put all my passion and drive into my career but not only growing my career, I grew in my faith. All glory to God, my work was noticed by a retail developer and I was offered a phenomenal position with the company. I handle leasing and sales of certain retail developments. I’m what’s called a landlord representative. I still do a heavy amount of tenant representative work as I enjoy working with my past clients and local brands in Houston. My goal is to inspire others that no matter their past or current situations they too can reach any goals they set for themselves. I strive to educate agents that they can step into the world of commercial real estate especially women. CRE is only 36% female dominated with less than 1% of senior executive jobs being held by minority women. I want to change that. I started instructing classes on CRE(Commercial Real Estate) and I’m working on completing a book and a few guides on how to get started and how to make your first 6 figures as an entrepreneur. Many things are happening and I feel so blessed to be surrounded by the right individuals now.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s been a rollercoaster! I got in my head a lot when I was younger, I let others intimidate and or even influence me. Over time I learned that you have to be passionate about what you do and to not let others influence you.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a Commercial Real Estate Broker and I specialize in retail leasing. I enjoy working with local tenants and watching their dreams of being business owners come true. I am proud that I have not given up on my goals despite several setbacks. A few things that set me apart from other Brokers is my discipline on staying consistent in communication with my clients, as well as my strength in negotiating favorable terms for my clients.
