Rising Stars: Meet Flo Erickson of Houston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Flo Erickson.

Hi Flo, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always had the creative side in me, but Houston is where I really started giving myself permission to be seen. When I moved here almost four years ago, the city welcomed me in such a beautiful way. The people, the events, the hospitality, the creative community, it all gave me the space to put myself out there, connect with brands, and businesses and people, attend events, and start making a name for myself.

Then I became a mom, and that changed everything in the best way. I stepped back for a season to fully embrace motherhood and figure out who I was becoming in this new chapter. Postpartum has been a season of rebuilding, relearning myself, and giving myself grace.

Now I feel like I’m in my comeback era. I’m stepping back into content creation and styling services, but with more intention and purpose. I’m not trying to return to the old me. I’m reintroducing myself.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road, but I’ve never really been someone who needed easy. I’ve always been drawn to a challenge. The first time I ever stepped foot in Texas was the day I moved here. I was a small-town girl from Ohio, moving to Houston with no network or connections, but I’ve always been the kind of person who takes risks, takes chances, and bets on herself.

Content creation has been a journey of constantly choosing to show up, even in seasons where my confidence wasn’t the highest. There have been moments of self-doubt, moments where I questioned if I belonged in certain rooms, or if I was capable of taking things to the next level. But deep down, I’ve always known what I’m capable of and what I bring to the table.

And now, after almost six years of doing this, becoming a mother, evolving as a woman, and stepping into this new chapter, I feel like I’m standing in my power more than ever. The road hasn’t been easy, but I think that’s what made me who I am. I didn’t wait for confidence to show up first. I moved, I tried, I built, I kept going, and now I’m really leaning into expanding and growing that.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My work really sits at the intersection of fashion, lifestyle, storytelling, and styling. As a content creator, I specialize in romanticizing real life and turning even the most simple, everyday moments into an experience. Whether it’s an outfit, a coffee run, a family day, a local restaurant, or a quiet moment at home, I love showing that life doesn’t have to be extravagant to feel beautiful, but also that it’s okay to want and like nice things and treat yourself It’s all about balance and how you show up for yourself single day that changes your life.

I’m also stepping back into offering styling services, which is something I’m really passionate about. For me, styling is so much deeper than putting together outfits. It’s about helping women feel confident, elevated, and reconnected to themselves. The right outfit can completely shift the way you move through the world and how you show up and are seen and see yourself! There is so much power in the way we carry ourselves and I want to help others find and embrace their power!

I think what sets me apart is my ability to make things feel approachable but still intentional. I’m not trying to sell perfection. I’m showing real life, but with a little more beauty, confidence, and effort behind it. I’m most proud of the fact that my work encourages women to see themselves differently, to start over if they need to, to get dressed again, to romanticize their own lives, and to believe that their next chapter can still be written, it’s never too late to bet on yourself

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I love most about Houston is that there is truly something for everyone here. No matter what season of life you’re in, what you’re interested in, or how big or small your dreams feel, there’s a space for you. You just have to be willing to find what’s meant for you, but it’s here. That’s what made Houston so special for me. The city gave me room to explore, meet people, try new things, put myself out there, and really grow into a new version of myself.

What I like least is honestly that there are not enough hours in the day to experience it all. Houston has so much to offer, from the food and events to the creative community and local businesses. Every time I feel like I’ve found my favorite spot, there’s something new to discover. It’s a good problem to have, but it really does feel endless in the best way.
