Today we’d like to introduce you to Funke Omo-Osagie.
Hi Funke, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
The origin
After caring for many patients in hospital and home settings, they often shared stories about gaps in care, a lack of patient understanding, and the need for more compassionate, holistic approaches to their care. I started this clinic to bridge that gap. I’m able to combine my background in teaching with hands-on care by providing personalized care and focusing on patient education in health and wellness. The clinic is dedicated to providing the attentive, informed, and compassionate care I have always wanted to deliver.
Professional story
My journey as a nurse began about three decades ago, driven by a deep desire to help others and make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. Early in my career, I worked in a variety of clinical settings, caring for patients of all ages and backgrounds. These experiences taught me the importance of empathy, clear communication, and the power of listening—skills that have remained at the heart of my practice.
After several years at the bedside, I transitioned into nurse education. For 28 years, I had the privilege of mentoring and teaching the next generation of nurses. I found immense fulfillment in sharing knowledge, supporting students through their challenges, and watching them grow into confident, compassionate professionals.
Throughout my career, I have witnessed both the strengths and the shortcomings of our healthcare system. I saw how education could empower patients. These realizations inspired me to open my own clinic, where I could blend education and hands-on care. My goal is to create a welcoming, supportive space where patients are truly seen, heard, and involved in their healthcare decisions.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not been an easy road, but I believe that I have been lucky. Starting a business is tough. I started the home health business just before COVID hit, and that just put a hold onto everything. It became impossible to market and admit patients. There were too many restrictions and hindrances, but I stayed on course, and we made it through.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
