Hi Gabriella and Darnell , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Our entertainment business began in 2012 with a passion for music and creating unforgettable experiences through professional DJ services. As we continued working events and interacting with clients, we noticed many vendors expanding their offerings and creating additional revenue streams. This inspired us to ask ourselves: How can we enhance our services and provide even more value to our clients?

Our first expansion was adding hookah services. While successful, it proved to be very labor-intensive and required significant manpower to operate efficiently. After evaluating the challenges and opportunities, we went back to the drawing board to find a service that would better complement our DJ business.

That’s when we introduced mobile bar services. It was the perfect fit. Mobile bartending paired naturally with entertainment, allowing us to create a complete party experience for our clients. After all, what’s a great celebration without music and libations? By combining professional DJ services with mobile bar services, we created a one-stop entertainment solution that helps make every event memorable, seamless, and enjoyable for our guests.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like many small businesses, we faced our share of challenges along the way. One of the biggest obstacles was pricing our services fairly while remaining competitive in a large market like Houston. With the city spanning such a wide area and fuel costs constantly fluctuating, transportation expenses could vary significantly from event to event. To address this, we established a central service area and developed a radius-based pricing structure that allowed us to accurately account for travel costs while remaining transparent with our clients.

Another challenge was transporting our equipment. In the early years of our business, we did not own a dedicated vehicle for hauling our DJ and event equipment, so we often relied on renting U-Haul vans. While necessary, these rental costs reduced our profit margins and taught us an important lesson about business growth: you have to make money before you spend it. Rather than taking on unnecessary debt, we focused on building our client base, reinvesting our earnings, and gradually acquiring the resources needed to operate more efficiently.

These challenges helped shape our business mindset and reinforced the importance of strategic growth, financial discipline, and adaptability—qualities that continue to guide our business today.

As a husband and wife team, we have built our reputation on professionalism, reliability, and genuine passion for what we do. As a proud Black owned small business, we understand the importance of building strong relationships with our clients and delivering exceptional service every time.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
One of the things we enjoy most about doing business in Houston is the diversity and size of the population. Houston is home to people from all walks of life, which creates endless opportunities to connect with new clients and serve a wide variety of events. The city’s growth and vibrant event culture have allowed us to build a strong client base while continuing to expand our reach throughout the community.

Like many Houston residents and business owners, one of our biggest challenges is the traffic. With such a large metropolitan area, travel times can be unpredictable, and getting to and from event locations can sometimes be time consuming. However, we understand the importance of punctuality and preparation, so we plan accordingly to ensure we arrive on time and provide the exceptional service our clients expect.

Despite the traffic, Houston remains a great place to live, work, and grow a business. The people, culture, and opportunities available here make it a rewarding city to serve, and we are proud to be part of its thriving event industry.
