Hi Gina, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi! I’m so grateful for the opportunity. I am an online creator and coach from Houston, Texas and I have a passion for helping others build their dream life online, too! After I graduated college, I fell into a 9-5 lifestyle like most others, even though I always knew it wasn’t for me. Before long, I realized I was miserable at my job and didn’t get to spend near enough time with my husband.
I always knew the 9-5 lifestyle wasn’t for me but, like most others, it’s what I fell into after college, anyway. However, It wasn’t long before I realized I was miserable at my job and didn’t get to spend near enough time with my husband (then boyfriend).
One day, I sat down to do the math and found that, if I worked a 9-5 until I retired, I would spend the equivalent of 10 years at my desk! I wanted to spend that 10 years of time with loved ones having experiences… not being miserable at a desk. I decided I needed to find a way to regain control of my time. I knew the only way to do that was to become my own boss, so, I set out on an entrepreneurial journey!
I had wanted to be an influencer since early-college for their career-autonomy, but was always lacking the confidence to get started. Even so, I continued to study the industry for years and, by the time I decided to work for myself, I knew a whole lot about it! I used that knowledge to fuel different entrepreneurial fires until I realized that, not only can I escape the 9-5 life using social media, but I can help others do the same! That idea is what I became truly aligned with and it’s what pushed me to finally set aside my fears and dive into the influencer industry for myself.
I began creating content sharing my social media growth tips on TikTok and Instagram. By implementing the strategies I know, I attracted others just like me, who also wanted to leverage the power of social media! Now, I have grown a community of over 53,000 followers in just 7 months and, every day, I teach them how to do the same! Hearing their stories and goals, I developed a passion for helping my audience gain the freedom of their dreams.
Now, I have quit my 9-5 job, work for myself as a freelancer and creator, and I am so proud to soon be launching coaching services for those who are ready to dive deeper than my thirty second TikToks, and work with me one-on-one!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The hardest part of this journey for me has been overcoming mental blocks like Impostor Syndrome and burnout. I am constantly working on overcoming them and, the great part about that is, I can then teach each lesson I learn to my audience, in order to help them cope with the same mental blocks! We are truly all on this journey together.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a content creator, freelancer and online coach specializing in social media growth and influencer strategies. I post content to my social media platforms meant to provide value and empower those who want to be creators/influencers and/or other entrepreneurs. I also collaborate with and promote brands which I think are relevant and useful to my audience’s growth. For those looking for deeper guidance in their social media journey, I will be launching services such as personalized IG/TikTok audits and strategy plans as well as one-on-one coaching and exploration calls with me! Ultimately, what I do is get to serve a community of ambitious and like-minded creatives, and it is my dream come true!
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Social Media is ever-changing and one of my jobs is to adapt accordingly. With the growing popularity in video content due to TikTok, and increased call for authenticity due to world events, we can expect to see a lot less perfectly curated posts and a lot more informational and raw content. The Influencer industry is a multi-billion dollar industry, and, with the desire for more authenticity, consumers are shifting their trust from big-name celebrities toward micro-influencers, making influencer-marketing one of the most effective marketing strategies.
As a result, platforms are really starting to reward their creators (because of the tremendous value they offer)! Instagram recently announced changes coming by 2022 which will support creators and make it easier for them to make money on the platform. A few of these new features include an IG affiliate program, IG shops, and money-bonuses for engagement on certain content.
It’s exciting times for the industry and there is plenty of room for everyone!
