Today we’d like to introduce you to Glenda Monya.
Hi Glenda, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
It was my senior year and quarantine, and everything was online. With time I started to fall in love with photography. I got my first camera and started taking pictures of everything around me at first then it moved on to sports. I started taking pictures through a program called VypeU and from then on that’s what started it all.
As time went on I started exploring more taking pictures of my friends and small parties to get a portfolio built up. It took a lot of debating to see if I wanted to make this a business or not, but eventually, I did. Since then it has been a huge blessing to be able to do what I love capturing beautiful moments along the way.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
In a journey like this, no road is going to be smooth.
One big struggle was self-doubt, always questioning myself to see if I really do it or not. It was my biggest holdback, but all the love, support, and words of encouragement pushed me to continue to do what I love and capture these beautiful moments for people.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
There are so many elements of photography that can’t just settle with one. I love taking pictures of people in the moment, capturing that genuine reaction just completes everything and really tells a story through that picture.
I’m proud of what I do, just being able to hear back from all my clients and know that they love what I was able to capture for them, something they can hold onto for a long time. My work itself is what sets me apart from others, it’s different and captures a lot and you can really tell a story from it.
Who else deserves credit for your story?
All the credit goes all to my family, friends, and my clients without them I wouldn’t be able to do what I do and provide this service for them. I thank my family most importantly, from the start they have been so supportive pushing me to continue even when I didn’t, and now look everything is thriving for me right now.
To my friends, I thank them for being my little models from the start trusting and helping me build and create this business, without them what would I do honestly? To my clients, I thank them for trusting me to capture moments that can hold onto forever and always look back at, and that is what makes my day every single time I get behind that camera and capture these moments.
