Rising Stars: Meet Godly Ezeakachi of Houston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Godly Ezeakachi.

Hi Godly, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Godly Ezeakachi, also known as Sunny aka SUNNYSIDE. I was born and raised in Houston, Texas, the only son out of four kids. I get my strength and heart from my parents. There were times when my mom frying plantains in our garage is what got us by — and I’ll never forget the will and passion they instilled in me. They’ve been beaten down by life, but they always stood up, and that taught me to do the same. They are the fuel in my engine, the reason I push forward every day.

Being a first-generation creative hasn’t been easy. The path is lonely because you’re not always understood or supported, but it shaped me. My sister Miracle gave me my creative spirit — she taught me that you don’t always need to be understood, as long as you’re happy. She showed me that creativity is a mind’s game and the body’s player, and that lesson keeps me grounded. My little sisters Goodness and Goodnews remind me I’m loved no matter how many times I fall short. My brother Henrey is like the Holy Spirit in my life — he gives me space when I need it, but never leaves, always standing beside me and seeing me for my potential, not my flaws being there for me whenever I need and always having my back the love I have for him can’t be explained.

I also carry the strength of my community. (W.O.B) Jaden Wright represents brotherhood to me — he’s someone I can count on no matter how much time passes. Kosy Okoroafor is another steady friend, my yin if I may say and with Isaac Buoye, this our baba out the group in other words the father the realist, they form a circle of loyalty I don’t even need to question. James and John Lambert are blessings in disguise — I call them “consistency” because they give without expecting anything in return, which is rare and priceless especially since they do I it consistently. Prince played a key role in helping me uncover a new trait in myself and pushed me to grow. Zee (Envy Zee) the only girl in my group reminds me to stop worrying about other people’s opinions and just enjoy being myself in the process. Ayo has been a teacher — not just telling me what to do but literally teaching me how to “fish,” how to build skills I can carry for life. And then there’s Great, my brother who’s a star in his own right but still treats me like I’m the only one. His humility is something to be studied.

All of these people remind me that while the road may feel lonely, I’ve never truly walked it alone. They make the hard parts worth it.

Above all else, everything I am and everything I do is by the grace of God. He’s my guide, my strength, and the one who deserves the glory. If you ask me how I got here, the answer is simple: I just kept moving. One step at a time, never standing still. Even if I made the wrong move, I made it with 100%. Stagnancy is for the devil — but progress, faith, and resilience keep you alive.
My passion is in entertainment — to bring joy, be a voice for people, an MC/master of crowds, and create with authenticity. I believe dreams aren’t meant to be fully explained, because no one can see them the way you do — they’re yours. Along this journey, I’ve had the honor of performing for and hosting international artists such as Davido, Smade (Founder of AFRONATION), Odumodublvck, Young John, Skyla Tyla, Bnxn (Buju), Rema, Asake, Wande Coal, Seyi Vibez, and many more. These experiences have sharpened my vision and deepened my commitment to leaving a lasting mark on the world stage. My dream is to become the star I’ve always said I would be — and with the Lord who strengthens me, I’m ready to go big and make that mark. That’s my story.**

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
*“I’m a Nigerian-American creative from Houston, Texas, and my work is rooted in entertainment and storytelling. I specialize in creating experiences through music, performance, and content that connect deeply with people — not just to entertain, but to inspire and bring joy.

I’m known for being transparent and authentic in my art. I don’t just create for the spotlight; I create to be the voice of people who feel overlooked or misunderstood. My work blends culture, faith, and raw human experience, and I think that’s what resonates — people feel seen when they experience what I do.

What I’m most proud of is the resilience behind my journey. Everything I’ve built has come step by step, without a blueprint, as a first-generation creative. I’m proud that I’ve stayed true to my values — keeping God first, maintaining integrity, and never compromising my morals even when the industry tries to pull you in different directions.

What sets me apart is my perspective. I don’t just create from talent, I create from testimony. My background, my struggles, my faith, my community, and my Nigerian heritage all pour into what I do. For me, creativity isn’t just about being seen — it’s about leaving people better than I found them. That’s the heart of my work.”**

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is that the journey is meant to be walked with faith, resilience, and authenticity. I used to think success meant being fully understood by others, but I’ve learned you don’t always need to be understood — you just need to stay true to who you are and keep moving forward.

I’ve also learned that consistency matters more than perfection. Even if you take the wrong step, it’s better than standing still, because stagnancy kills dreams. My parents taught me resilience, my siblings taught me unconditional love, and God taught me that as long as I put Him first, I can overcome anything.

So for me, the biggest lesson is this: protect your dream, don’t compare your path to anyone else’s, and always give 100% to wherever your faith is leading you.”
