Today, we’d like to introduce you to James Nissen.
James, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve been playing drums and percussion since 6th grade, and I just turned 30.
I fell into the weird world of synthesizers and drum machines in college while learning to record music, and my brother Ben and I have been making music as “Eucalyption” since 2018.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road hasn’t been as rough as much as it’s been long.
We’ve experienced all the different struggles you’d expect along the way, but we’ve been slowly improving our skills and learning about the music world for years while working other full-time jobs, getting married, and getting better.
I appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I make music happen. My brother Ben and I make up the Houston-based rock band “Eucalyption.” We both sing while he plays bass and guitar, and I play drums and electronics. We’re known for our unique sound and live shows.
I also record and mix music for other bands and sometimes play drums, percussion, or synths. I’m the ultimate team player, ready to fill whatever role the project needs, no matter how big or small. I make the music experience better by being a part of it, and that’s what I’m most proud of.
What are your plans for the future?
We’re really excited about the new music we’re working on, and we can’t wait to perform it for everyone.
I’m also really excited about the music I’ve been mixing and recording for other bands. I’m just excited to keep growing my different music skills and see where it leads me.
