Rising Stars: Meet Jasmine Mason of Houston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Mason.

Hi Jasmine, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in Kansas City, MO. The youngest out of 4. We didn’t have much growing up like most families around me at the time but my parents always tried to do their best with giving us the most fulfilled life. I gained my passion for photography and production when I began high school at Lees Summit North. I joined the newspaper staff and took a vocational class for digital media at Summit Tech. I decided to leave my hometown to seek more opportunities elsewhere when I was 22. I spent a year in Los Angeles, California to gain more experience and exposure while working in the production, and event industry side by side a few of my family members who call LA home. I got the opportunity to work with a large networking group called PTTOW. During my time with working with PTTOW, I was honored to work with notable and up and coming brands, artists and athletes. I got to network with CEO’s of Fortune 500 companies like T-Mobile, Nike, Hulu, ect. To be in a room full of so many successful people gave me more drive than ever. That’s when I decided to leave LA and moved to Texas in 2018. I worked in the night life industry as a server for the first two years of being here to gain my clientele and now I can say I’m the owner and operator of my own production/photography business. I am also a single mom of two boys. Although I always see more growth for myself I’m wanting to turn my business into an agency to help other ppl with opportunities

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been easy and I still have my struggles as a solo owner and operator. With AI on the rise it can cause a little stress but I have hope that the industry will pivot and find other ways to show creativity while still making an income. It’s also a challenge being a female in a male dominated industry. I have had to overcome being underpaid or not paid at all while men in the same field as me with less experience take over. That has never stopped me, it just made me want to work harder and become a boss. To come out on top after all I been through would be the biggest get back

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I would say I’m the most proud of not giving up. It’s been so many times when I wanted to forget about everything and just focus on having a boring life and just work a 9-5. Although I still have my full time job, while running a business and taking care of my boys, my goal is to create an agency and make content creation a full time job as a creative content manager

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
