Today we’d like to introduce you to Jen Santana
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hi, my name is Jen Santana. I’m a Houston-based makeup artist with over 13 years of experience in the beauty industry. My passion and love for makeup started at a very young age, where I found myself drawn to experimenting with products, and captivated by the artistry that can transform a face. My career began at the iconic MAC store located in Rice Village, where I turned my talent into a profession that is so incredibly fulfilling to my soul. In 2016, I founded Glossip Beauty by Jen, a brand that has since gained recognition in publications like, Weddings in Houston and Wed Society. My artistry is driven by a profound love for enhancing natural beauty, and empowering my clients. Whether I’m creating flawless bridal looks, or creating a makeup look for a photo shoot, or night on the town, my goal remains the same: to help each client feel confident, radiant, and uniquely beautiful in their skin. For me, there is nothing more rewarding than seeing my clients face when they look in the mirror at their final look, and seeing them shine, both inside and out.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting a business is never without its challenges, and my journey has certainly had its ups and downs. Like many entrepreneurs, I’ve faced my share of obstacles. For instance, if you’re born and raised in Houston, you know how sweltering the summers can be. This tends to make my bookings take a nose dive in the summer, and can make business slower. However, my peak seasons are in the fall, winter, and spring, when demand is at its highest. Despite the setbacks related to the weather in Houston, the rewards of running my own business make it all worth it.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in a wide range of makeup services, including weddings, engagements, maternity, family portraits, business headshots, film, editorial work- just to name a few! I’m known for my signature soft glam looks, which focus on accentuating and highlighting natural beauty, rather than masking it. What I am most proud of is creating my own unique style that allows my clients to feel beautiful, and authentically themselves. My passion for makeup goes beyond artistry; it’s about empowering people to feel confident in their own skin while building a genuine connection with each one of them- this is what truly sets me apart.

My favorite books are About Face and Face to Face by the legendary makeup artist Scott Barnes.
