Today we’d like to introduce you to Jimmy Static.
Hi Jimmy, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Jimmy Static, born and raised in Houston, Texas was always pushed towards music. As a child his family knew he was musically inclined but he never really understood the keys until he found out Thomas Edison once said “If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency, and vibration,” but Jimmy didn’t learn that so early along his journey. Countless lessons, obstacles, challenges and much time led him along the beautiful journey that is life.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Jimmy Static’s journey started much like many others with fire, the burning of his childhood home. To this day it’s unknown as to what started the fire but Jimmy Static knew he was meant for more he didn’t allow life to bring him down, he kept persevering but there was still more in store for him.
There’s a reason his friends all jokingly call him “Crash-Dummy”, not just because he’s known for typically having a hothead, although it’s true. They call him “Crash-Dummy” because of the two major car accidents he’s been in resulting in two different totaled vehicles, as well as some major injuries. The scar on Jimmy Static’s forehead is from when a woman was on the wrong side of the road and hit Jimmy’s car in a head-on collision. Jimmy Static’s air bags failed and his head went straight through a windshield. His whole outfit was drenched in blood leaking from his head to his shoes, in fact even the seats were covered in blood. He still never fainted or lost consciousness, in fact he’s the one that made the call for an ambulance they took him to the hospital and he was awake all through the doctor putting stitches in his head. A couple years before this accident Jimmy crashed into an eighteen wheeler that was parked in the middle lane of highway 6. The whole front end of his car was smashed underneath the back end of the eighteen wheeler but luckily somehow by the grace of God he survived, by smashing his right foot as hard as he could on the brake. In the process he absolutely demolished his right leg. The doctor said Jimmy broke the most painful bone to break in his body, it’s the last bone that the doctor himself would want to break in his body, the talus bone, also known as his heel bone was completely fractured. Jimmy Static never went unconscious during this accident either in fact he crashed looked down at his right leg facing completely inward and proceeded to call the ambulance and didn’t even notify his family until he was already at the hospital for two hours. He went through about a half a year of intense physical therapy but was always determined to make it through this ordeal and now he walks just like any of us. No permanent physical damage from either incident, well except for some screws in his body here and there.
All this pain, the challenges, and obstacles, lead to growth as an individual, as an artist, more importantly as a person, the lessons and experiences that Jimmy Static learned through his pain, through his suffering are lessons that can never be taught or even experienced in the same way. Imagine you lost your childhood home, the home you grew up in from when you were a toddler to your late teens, would you be the same person you are now? Just think about it. All of those childhood memories, playing outside, the birthdays, a gift given to you by god all up in smoke, gone, just like that. So I ask you again would you be the same person you are now? Or would life had lead you down a different path? A darker one perhaps… but with a greater light at the end of the tunnel.

Jimmy Static is known for his alternative approach to the Houston Rap scene, he’s always looking to work with new artists on various upcoming projects and never afraid to share any knowledge if he can. What were you like growing up?
Growing up Jimmy Static’s parents always knew Jimmy was intellectually gifted he was always at the top of his class even when he was enrolled in the Gifted and Talented Program but he always failed to pay attention or actively engage. When it came down to it he always found school boring or rather it was uninteresting because it didn’t require him to use much of his intellect, everything came to easy. Jimmy Static required more of a challenge, the unexplainable nature and allure of music eventually led him to pursue his musical career.
