Rising Stars: Meet Kathy Gregory

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kathy Gregory.

Hi Kathy, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Prior to 2013, I did not care what I was putting into my body nutritionally, I had little meaningful movement in my day, and my spiritual life was sorely lacking. I was over-scheduled, fatigued, going mindlessly through the motions of life, and struggling with health issues both physically and mentally. I found myself in a pretty dark place and I remember thinking I was sick and tired of feeling sick and tired. I needed a change, but how could I begin to take the seemingly overwhelming steps toward better health?

I made the life-changing decision to get help – I needed to climb out from the hole I had dug. I began working with someone who assisted me in seeing that the path back to good health was a partnership. I needed someone giving me guidance and support as well as keeping me accountable to my health goals. I needed a hand-up – we all do from time-to-time.

I launched KG Wellness in January of 2017.  I am the owner and a certified integrative wellness coach.  I received my certification through IIN, Institute for Integrative Nutrition, which is the world’s largest nutrition school and certification program. Through the years, I have had the honor of working with many individuals and groups in achieving better health.

I love educating people about how nutrition and a healthy lifestyle affects their mind, body, and spirit. Good health is NOT a number on a scale, it’s a feeling. It’s how you feel on a daily basis and allows you to show-up in your life to best serve your family, yourself, and your community. When you are healthy, you have the energy to do what you want, you can think clearly while doing it, and your outlook on life is one of happiness and gratitude. The truth of the matter is that what you fuel your body and mind with is either creating health or disease. My goal is to help you choose health by working together to make the small changes that bring about big results.

Health coaching is not about fad diets or even losing weight. It’s about finding a way of living that is sustainable and consistent with the values you hold dear. It’s about empowering you to take your health into your own hands. I want you to understand that by valuing your health you are making yourself a priority. Good health is true wealth and your body is your number one asset. Living a healthy lifestyle and fueling yourself with foods/drinks that serve the best purpose for what you want to accomplish in life should be your top priority. When you are healthy – i.e., full of energy, clear minded, happy – you can accomplish just about anything.

Health is a journey not a destination. As a health coach, I want to join you on your journey and together we will figure out the best path forward in all facets of a healthy lifestyle.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Keeping a positive mindset for staying healthy can be challenging – especially during 2020. I have a list of non-negotiable lifestyle choices I know work for me in showing up best and feeling best for my life. Even though I have this knowledge about myself, I still struggle. I have friends, family, and coaches who help me stay on track with my goals.

In 2018, I had to have a hysterectomy which was a setback. I had to begin the delicate dance of hormone balance which is an area where a lot of women struggle. I continue to find what works for me – and that’s the thing about any health challenge. You have to find what works for you. Health is not one-size-fits-all. You need a partner assisting you in finding what works not dictating what works.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
If weight loss is your only or main focus, I’m not your girl… I realize that’s a radical statement and counter diet culture. That’s on purpose. I can almost guarantee your weight is not your main concern – not really. There are always many deeper levels to why this “seems” to be so important. I help women get to the deeper levels.

This is achieved through a proven program that helps women DITCH exhaustion & overwhelm so they can find the TIME + ENERGY to live with the PURPOSE & CONFIDENCE they desire.

We focus on: purposeful nutrition, purposeful movement, purposeful routines, purposeful stress management, and purposeful mindset. When you make small shifts in these areas you will begin to feel better and show up in your life the way you desire.

Wellness works when your actions align with your values. When wellness is valued, it can be achieved through daily habits & routines and together, as a collaboration, we find the sustainable, daily actions that work best for you and your life.

Let’s begin a conversation, that’s the essence of coaching. Getting to the bottom of the problem by engaging in an authentic conversation about what works and what doesn’t in your life.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I grew up on a farm in rural Fairview, Tennessee. We lived next door to my grandparents who planted a huge garden every year. We helped weed, pick vegetables, and prep the vegetables for canning or freezing. It was a family affair and everyone was involved. This food helped feed us year round. I, of course, took that for granted as a child. The access to fresh, home grown fruits and vegetables is rare and I really miss that time in my life.
