Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelsey Wilson
Hi Kelsey , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have always loved makeup since I was a little girl but never thought it could be a real job, I went to Sam Houston for a semester and realized school was not the route I wanted to go. I enrolled in esthetician school to learn skincare ,facials and waxing. I Loved the personable aspect of it and making women feel good! I worked at a spa for about a year and left to work closer to home. It was hard to find a new facial job so I started working at a local boutique until I could find another spa job, they were looking for a makeup artist so I started doing makeup at the salon and haven’t looked back since. I am now a full time booked and busy makeup artist and truly living the dream.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Juggling managing a boutique, doing their social media and being a makeup artist was a lot at times. It was hard to keep a healthy work / life balance but I sacrificed and worked as much as I could and it all paid off.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I provide makeup for women no matter the event or occasion. My weekends are focused on providing the best service for brides and bridal parties. During the week consist of, makeup classes , bridal trials, senior pictures, branding photoshoots, you name it! I would say I specialize in a more warm toned glam! I glam girls who want a very natural look to ladies who want a full glam look. I am so proud of how far I have come and for putting myself out there and getting out of my comfort zone. I truly do not feel like I’m working when I’m doing makeup, I’m also so proud of myself for making a business from scratch to support myself and spreading a confidence in women .
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
My clients happiness matters to me most! Without them, glammed up by kels would be nothing! I want my clients to be obsessed with the way they look when they leave my chair. I want them to be honest and feel like they are able to communicate if they want any changes.
