Today we’d like to introduce you to Krissy Osborne.
Hi Krissy, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m a Cuban American who grew up here in Houston and went to UT for undergrad. I started out pre-med but ended up with a social work degree and a job at Child Protective Services as a case worker for kids in state custody. A few years in, I got really passionate about my own health and wellness, as well as creating some financial stability for myself. When I met my now wife I was transitioning from full time network marketing into a corporate HR role in Austin. After a couple of years as newlyweds, she got a Principal position in the Houston area which brought us here. I bought my first camera and took a few courses (online and in person) and started practicing my skills with friends and family. Within a few months, I was getting paid for my work and getting referrals.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No. My photography business began to grow from year 1 to 2 and then the pandemic hit which sent things to a screeching halt. Having a full-time corporate role limits my available time but I’m thankful for it because it sustained me until shoots and other opportunities began to pick up again in 2021. I have continued to work and really enjoy what I do in my day gig but it can be a lot to juggle during the busy holiday season. I end up “working” on my creative business in the early morning or in the evenings which can also cut into family time. I’m working hard over the next year to automate some parts of my business and outsource the things I don’t enjoy doing so that I can spend more time with people and activities I love.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’ve held roles in social services, wellness, HR, and non-profit but am a creative at heart. I began photographing my nephews about 5 years ago when moving to Houston and that turned into a side business that has now evolved to also includes art and design. I think it all has to do with having an eye for beauty. I can find it in so many things, people, places and moments. I am not the most experienced nor the cheapest but I care about the people I work with and always give my best to any project. I know how important communication is when embarking on something new so I try to make the process as simple, clear, and easygoing for my clients. I want you to not only love the outcome but enjoy working together. I’m proud of all the referrals my clients continue to send my way and the trust they put in me to try something outside of my own scope (like my first wedding last year). I started creating art in 2022 as a way to heal from my own anxiety and depression. It has been a trying process to let go and move through the emotions in a healthy and productive way. I hope anyone who has ever experienced this type of pain knows they are not alone and that they deserve the freedom and beauty on the other side. May my work bring joy and peace to their lives.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
Book me for your next shoot, buy my art, or hire me to help you design or decorate your space. I love working hand in hand with clients to get them exactly what they need – from capturing memories to making your life and home more beautiful, I am here for you. I do what I say I will do and we will have a good time doing it. Let’s create something that brings you joy and happiness while also making you feel special and worthy in the process.
