Rising Stars: Meet Lance Allen Kramer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lance Allen Kramer.

Hi Lance, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My life story has been exciting, unpredictable, and entertaining. It’s been full of ups and downs, but I wouldn’t take anything back. And I’m excited for what the future has in store. I was born and raised in The Woodlands, TX. My passion for acting began at the age of eight in a production of “Oliver” at Conroe’s Historic Crighton Theatre. I went to The Woodlands High School, where I began taking my acting more seriously. I received my first film experience on the set of “Rushmore” starring Bill Murray, where I was lucky enough to be a Featured Extra.

In High School, I was president of the Drama club and set the school record capturing 11 UIL Acting awards, including Best Actor at State. Additionally, I was named Rotary Student of the Year for my philanthropy work as a Sophomore. After High School, I attended The University of North Carolina School of the Arts, majoring in Acting. Upon graduation, I moved to NYC. After acting in a few National Tours, I headed to Los Angeles for a taste of the other coast. I appeared in a few Television shows and stage performances and began honing another passion: Cooking!

I created a gourmet foods company specializing in seasonings and sauces. Then the success of the company led me to BBQ Competitions. At The Santa Anita BBQ Competition, I won The People’s Choice Championship three years in a row. Around that time, Food Network came calling. I took my wife and friend Andrea on The Great Food Truck Race with Tyler Florence. As the “Lone Star Truck Wagon,” we cooked Tex-Mex BBQ and were Season Five’s runner-up, falling short in the Season Finale.

Recently I’ve come back full circle to The Woodlands. I was offered a job as the opening Executive Chef for Herb & Beet Restaurant. So I moved my wife Rachel and dog Shiner back to my hometown. After the successful restaurant opening, I stepped down as Executive Chef to jump back into the acting scene.

Now I’m combining my two passions: Acting and Cooking! My new short film “U14,” which garnered many awards, including Best Actor, is now available on Amazon Prime. You can also catch me on the small screen in local and national commercials. I’m selling BBQ Sauce and Gourmet Seasonings on my website and am available for catering special events. I’ve now teamed with some incredible talent to host a southern travel show, so stay tuned!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road hasn’t always been smooth. But everything happens for a reason, and it’s a part of the journey. I chose a career filled with rejection. As an actor, you are told “no” much more than “yes.” But that makes the bookings much more meaningful and fulfilling. If there’s a speed bump, you take it slowly, then speed off to the next!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m currently writing a Television Series based on growing up in Texas, as well as a Feature Horror Film. I’m proud to bring these projects back to my hometown. The Horror film takes place at the Crighton Theatre in Conroe, where I made my stage debut.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Without risk, there’s no meaningful reward. I’m not afraid to take risks. Risk is what has brought me coast to coast and now back to The Woodlands. Nothing is permanent, so I’m never scared to leap and trust the process. Risk also keeps things fresh and exciting. My days are unpredictable and filled with excitement. In two weeks, I could be filming a feature in New Orleans. Or I may be catering a wedding for 300 people. Time will tell!
