Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Lawrence.
Hi Laura, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always had a love for fashion. I really love helping individuals find their own style and increase their confidence. When a person looks good, they feel good.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Of course not! Everything comes with obstacles. Protecting and servicing the city by day to creating content by night can be a little stressful. I have to make sure I’m organized to keep everything in order. I plan my content by the events I have going on in the week and my outfits I’m putting together. Social media is the way the business gets exposure.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a personal stylist for men and women. I help individuals find their fashion styles. I specialize in custom suits and helping my clients with their overall wardrobe. I’m most proud of actual starting the business to become a stylist. I used to think everyone could put outfits together, but I learned it’s actually a craft to be able to have an eye for looks. I would say I believe my personality set me aside from others. My background in Social Work and my career in Law Enforcement helps me to be able to individualize my clients. Not one client is the same nor has the same taste in their style.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Abe Ndoye is my fashion mentor. I first met Abe two years ago when he was one of the fashion designers in the Houston Police Department’s fashion show. I got a custom suit jacket from him, and he seen my passion for fashion. Abe has taught me the ends and out when it comes to custom suits. I really appreciate all the time he has taken to mentor me. We have weekly meetings to go over different fashion topics and believe it or not I get quizzed. Abe has helped me build my confidence in my skills. Knowledge is power in everything we do!
