Today we’d like to introduce you to Lee Ann McCluer.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I am a people person and always looking for interesting things to do. After retiring from being a Registered Nurse for 45 years, I became a notary public and took extra courses to be qualified to perform real estate signings. In some of the notary groups on Facebook I noticed notaries were doing weddings in several states. I did some research and found that in Texas one must be ordained so I set out to accomplish that. I am ordained through Universal Life Church, American Marriage Ministries and Christian Global Outreach Ministries. I found this is a path I enjoy and love the helping, planning and joy this new career can bring.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
When I started out it was just me doing mostly simple beach weddings. Once my friend who is a photographer with wedding experience became my business partner, we grew the business by adding services and rentals. We are now a premier provider of weddings in Galveston and surrounding areas. We both are certified by Weddings MBA. This business is different than many as we are always looking for customers as we don’t have many returning customers. Referrals are a big part of our customer base. Being a service business there is no regular income so at times we are pinching pennies but have managed to stay afloat and prosper (even through COVID).
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We specialize in the provision of services for many types of events such as parties, reunions, receptions, Quinceanera’s, birthday parties, and of course weddings too. We specialize in decor which is beach friendly since we are located on beautiful Galveston Island. We ask important questions to find out exactly what the needs and desires of our clients are with questionnaires, face to face meetings and zoom conferences to further involves out clients input in the planning process. Our most unique feature is our ability to offer a very reasonably priced event because we do this because we love to do it not because it is our major source of financial support.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
We have taken many courses and seminars about weddings and always are looking for new avenues that will provide the best outcomes for our customers. We can offer 6 different arch selections, beautiful aisles with floral and other selections, many companion services, rentals, photo booth and video and streaming services. I would like our clients and partners to know we are truly honored to be chosen for such an important life event. We are community oriented and offer services to organizations at reduced prices. We are open to serving all couples, ethnic groups, cultural influences, lifestyles and persons in any community.
