Rising Stars: Meet Linda Browne

Today we’d like to introduce you to Linda Browne.

Hi Linda, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am a board-certified Internal Medicine physician, retired U.S. Air Force veteran, comedian, actor, content creator, author, mother, grandmother and entrepreneur. That’s a mouthful and as you can imagine my journey has never followed a straight line, and that’s exactly what makes it meaningful.
For more than two decades, I served my country while building a career in medicine, eventually caring for patients across multiple healthcare settings. Throughout those years, I was often the person others relied on for answers, guidance, and support. What many people didn’t see was that I also had a creative side that was waiting for its opportunity to shine.
As I approached retirement, I realized that I didn’t want my next chapter to be defined by slowing down—I wanted it to be defined by reinvention. I began exploring comedy, acting, writing, travel, and content creation. What started as sharing my thoughts and experiences online gradually grew into a community of hundreds of thousands of followers who connected with my honest, humorous, and empowering perspective on life after 55.
Today, through my company, Sage Well Collective, I create content focused on health, humor, travel, and women’s empowerment. I am passionate about helping women realize that life doesn’t end at retirement—it can actually be the beginning of an exciting new chapter. Whether I’m educating people about health, making them laugh, discussing solo travel, or encouraging women to reinvent themselves, my mission is to show that it’s never too late to pursue new dreams after 55+ 65= or beyond.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that reinvention is not about becoming someone else—it’s about becoming more of who you were always meant to be. My career has evolved from physician and military officer to creator, entrepreneur, and storyteller, but the common thread has always been helping people live healthier, happier, and more fulfilling lives.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has definitely not been a smooth road, but I wouldn’t change the lessons I’ve learned along the way.
One of my biggest challenges was navigating life as a single parent while building a demanding career in medicine and serving in the military. Like many working parents, I often felt pulled in multiple directions, trying to excel professionally while also being fully present for my family. There were many moments when balance felt impossible, and success required sacrifice, resilience, and a great deal of determination.
Another challenge was the lack of mentors who looked like me or had traveled a similar path. As an African American woman pursuing leadership roles in medicine, the military, entrepreneurship, and now content creation, I often found myself in spaces where there was no obvious roadmap and very few people whose experiences mirrored my own. That meant I had to learn to trust my instincts, seek wisdom from a variety of sources, and sometimes become my own role model.

More recently, stepping into entrepreneurship and content creation later in life came with its own set of challenges. Many people assume that reinvention has an expiration date, but I chose to challenge that belief. Building a brand, learning social media, putting myself on camera, and creating a business around my passions required me to embrace uncertainty and be willing to fail publicly while learning.

Looking back, every obstacle became part of the foundation for where I am today. Those experiences taught me resilience, adaptability, and the importance of creating opportunities when they don’t already exist. They also fueled my passion for encouraging other women, especially those over 55+ o pursue new dreams and realize that it’s never too late to reinvent themselves.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I wear several hats—physician, comedian, content creator, author, actor, entrepreneur, and travel advocate—but at the heart of everything I do is storytelling.
I create content that sits at the intersection of health, humor, travel, and women’s empowerment. My audience is primarily women over 55 +who are navigating what I call their “second wind”—a stage of life where they are rediscovering themselves, pursuing new dreams, and realizing that their best years may still be ahead of them. Many of these women have found themselves now single empty nesters some divorced or widowed or some single by choice. Through videos, writing, speaking, and social media, I educate, entertain, and inspire people to live more fully and fearlessly.
I am probably best known for my humorous character-driven content, my “People I Can’t Travel With” series, and my honest conversations about reinvention after 55. I believe humor is one of the most powerful ways to connect with people and deliver meaningful messages. Whether I’m sharing travel stories, discussing health topics, or creating comedy sketches, my goal is always to leave people feeling informed, empowered, and entertained.
What I’m most proud of is not the follower count or the views—although I am grateful for the community that has grown around my work. What makes me proudest is hearing from women who tell me they finally booked the trip, started the business, launched the YouTube channel, left an unhealthy situation, or pursued a dream because something I shared gave them permission to believe it was possible. Those messages remind me that impact is far more important than influence.
What sets me apart is my unique combination of experiences. There are not many people who can draw from careers in medicine, military service, comedy, acting, entrepreneurship, and content creation all at once. I bring the credibility of a physician, the discipline of a military veteran, the curiosity of a traveler, and the perspective of a woman who has continually reinvented herself. My audience doesn’t just see an expert or an entertainer—they see someone who is actively living the message that it’s never too late to start something new.

My work is ultimately about helping people laugh, learn, and believe that their next chapter can be their best chapter.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
If I had to choose one quality that has contributed most to my success, it would be resilience.
Throughout my life and career, I have often found myself starting over in new environments, taking on new challenges, and pursuing goals that didn’t come with a clear roadmap. Whether it was serving in the military, building a career in medicine, raising a family as a single parent, or later reinventing myself as a content creator and entrepreneur, there were many moments when giving up would have been the easier option and I won’t say that I never thought about giving up.
What has made the difference however has been a willingness to keep moving forward, even when the outcome is uncertain. I’ve learned that success is rarely about having the perfect plan. It’s about adapting, learning, and continuing despite setbacks, criticism, or fear of failure. “Nothing beats a failure but a try”
I also believe resilience is closely tied to curiosity and courage. I’ve never allowed age, career labels, or other people’s expectations to define what I could pursue. That mindset has given me the confidence to explore new opportunities and embrace reinvention throughout my life.
Today, one of the messages I share most often with my audience is that it’s never too late to begin again. I can say that with conviction because resilience has allowed me to do exactly that, more than once.
