Rising Stars: Meet Macy Diulus of Clear Lake

Today we’d like to introduce you to Macy Diulus

Hi Macy, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have always had a passion for food since I was young, thanks to my mom, who taught my siblings and me how to cook and have fun in the kitchen.

After watching my family and myself face various health conditions, I realized I wanted to pursue a career that involved helping people through food.

I attended Baylor University to earn my undergraduate degree in Nutrition Science and then went to UT Health in Houston for my dietetic internship and Master of Public Health program.

Now, I am a registered dietitian (RD) and certified diabetes care and education specialist (CDCES), passionate about helping community members learn about nutrition through an intuitive eating and culinary nutrition approach.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I feel very fortunate and blessed not to have encountered any major obstacles along my journey thus far. The most challenging part was likely overcoming various gastrointestinal issues in high school, but this experience also inspired me to pursue my dream of becoming a dietitian.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a dietitian and food content creator, as well as a recipe developer and food photographer. I own a website called While Grain Crumbs where I share my recipes and nutrition expertise.

My niche is creating wholesome recipes made with whole grains for fiber and nutrition, all while ensuring they taste great. I feel proud that I have a unique mindset and skillset to help guide patients to creating balanced food options without removing or eliminating favorite, cultural, or familiar foods. Nutrition is all about addition and not subtraction. When we remove certain foods and food groups, we tend to feel deprived and only crave those foods more.

I particularly enjoy bringing recipes to life through food styling in photoshoots to tell a story, as well as filming short video content such as instagram reels.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love the diversity of Houston. Especially as a food lover, I am always amazed at how many cultures and cuisines we can find throughout each neighborhood of Houston. I feel privileged to have grown up in a diverse city exposing me to a variety of amazing foods.
