Rising Stars: Meet Mariah Alamillo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mariah Alamillo.

Hi Mariah, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
The story of my journey as a young female entrepreneur and small business owner in the beauty industry is a journey of self-discovery and is still being written. Still, the journey itself has been filled with. Life lessons that can be translated into all aspects of life, from raising a family to building a business.

In the early stages of my business, I was able to achieve success through a commitment to the process and. Having the right mindset about every obstacle that was presented to me.

I looked at things that others would see defeat and failure and I would see an opportunity and opportunity to learn, an opportunity to grow, an opportunity to test myself and the knowledge I had.

I didn’t graduate college and I don’t have a business degree. I did go to a trade school and found a passion for my trade in the beauty industry. And developed an understanding of business out of striving to achieve success in the career I chose. Through that hard work I. Achieved success by not only being in business now for 15 years but Achieving my financial goals and life Goals And raising my family while getting paid to do the things that I love most the journey alone has taught me a lifetime of valuable lessons.

Self-discovery has been the most magnificent realization that has allowed my business to flourish. One of the hardest things to do is build a business and brand and manage a company and other individuals in alignment with what you stand for and what your company offers to its community if you don’t have that foundation built.

It is nearly impossible when it is not authentic to you and your beliefs. In addition to that through thought lessons in this journey, the recognition of working on your business is just as crucial as working in your business the importance of the majors c suite positions within your company is imperative. Often as small business owners we recognize we have to wear every hat and play all the roles in our business and find themselves. Experiencing burnout, self-doubt, failure, losing love for things that were once filled with passion, and much more. I can personally attest to these feelings because I went through it and managed to come out on the other end. Because what we often fail to realize is how vital these c suite positions are and how they should be. Prioritized for me. Being the CEO, CFO, CMO, and COO of my business are equally important but need to be Prioritized accordingly to bringing me to the realization that my time is valuable and Things can be delegated property, so my time is Best Spent when my visions for my business as CEO was clear and transparent across the board.

Watching my business grow is a blessing that is powered by the gifts of me embracing the journey. Staying consistent in my actions and my faith while Constantly pushing forward and never excepting No or failure in my eyes.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I believe there is never a smooth road, but there is a path of less resistance. We often get this remarkable image in our heads of what life is supposed to be like. And most of the time, we run straight for that image. When we do that, we forget about the things we value in life, and we hit physical and mental. Roadblocks and Struggles with things in significant volume Because We lose control of the little things in our life that bring us joy.

So for me, I absolutely have hit many roadblocks and had many struggles, some being self-inflicted and others where Placed in front of me as unexpected obstacles that genuinely tested me mentally and physically.

The obstacles that I have faced in my journey date back. From grade school, being placed in special needs programs and being told I could do anything in life and would never be successful in life if I didn’t understand someone else ideas of what knowledge was and how to gain it, to finding my path of empowerment and becoming a beauty school student. Being kicked out of the program before I really even got a chance to show growth myself as a young adult, the reason was didn’t fit the mold as an ideal student because minor infractions with the school and financial aid difficulties the infraction That were brought to my life because of my economical place in life. All these things felt like obstacles that I would never overcome. A 10mth program took me two years o complete because of these obstacles, but I did it and exceeded all expectations the school had set for its students, particularly me.

After two years and finally graduating, I sought employment and was told No at 32; yes, that’s right. 32 different salon owners told me they couldn’t hire me when I, Sought employment locally as a young up-and-coming hairstylist looking for a place to start building my skills and business and growing my knowledge As I worked my way up in the industry.

It wasn’t until I recognized I was a licensed cosmetologist with the ability to manage and operate my own business that I formed my first business and LLC.

Drove an hour away from my Hometown changed my narrative to an independent contractor and hairstylist. New to the area and looking for a place to conduct my business.

My options opened up. Not only did I want to work at every salon I found myself in, but they wanted me just as badly; however, changing my narrative took away my comfort zone. I addressed these salons as someone experienced and ready to take on anything, not someone who required assistance. I had to live up to my expectations with no assistance from anyone, And I had to bet on myself and be my biggest supporter fear and doubt ran through me, but my faith kept me pushing.

My 1st five years of business were nothing but lesson after lesson after lesson learning from one after the next, but my sheer consistency threw everything kept me going. Because with every loss, there was a big win, and then if every success, there was always a loss, But my mindset around everything was it was all an opportunity to learn and grow.

After completing six years of managing to successfully maintain my lifestyle and my family and a steady flow of profits, it was like a light switch went off. I realized every time I found true joy in all that I loved about the company I was building was when I went with the path of least resistance and sat closer to my values.

After six years in business, my mindset had changed. Every day wasn’t filled with lessons. Every day was filled with stability and growth productivity opportunity to make changes. As I made those changes, I realized the more in alignment those changes were with who I was,s the better my business flourished but after a few years of trial-and-error with making positive changes towards my business, I discovered for me the true path to success was through myself discovery the more I knew about what I wanted and what I needed and what I expected from my business and what I expected from its consumers the more focused I was on my market and And my team that everything fell into place. And changed from that day forward as I always work on the path less resistant and closest to my company’s value.
