Today we’d like to introduce you to Mariah Green.
Hi Mariah, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is Mariah. I’m a wife, a mother, and a content creator. Growing up I was always recording videos and making people laugh. I have been on and off social media for several years but now I’m here to stay! Nothing warms my heart more than knowing that I made someone laugh. I recently started vlogging again and that seems to be going great as well.
I am a big advocate of mental health as my background is in psychology. Social media can be detrimental to your health if your relationship with it isn’t healthy. So I like to use it as an outlet, another person to talk to and vent to. My venting comes out in the form of hilarious videos! My content is relatable, sometimes serious, sometimes hilarious but you will leave my page feeling something!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Growing my audience and creating content has been a bumpy road with some potholes along the way. I have made an instagram and deleted it, made it again, deactivated it. My relationship with social media has not always been great as the thief of joy, comparison, came over me every time I got on. Once I learned that I can make people laugh through videos and reels, it was smooth sailing from there. Social media can bring out some unwanted feelings so I’m big on taking breaks from time to time.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m known for my hilarious reels and stories on my instagram. Some posts can be serious like my mental health ones and the same can be laughter inducing like my most recent reel. I believe I’m different from the rest because I keep it real with everything I say and do. I’m a mother, a wife, an employee. I feel as if a lot of people, especially women, can relate to me and the content I post. I post the real, the raw, and the funny moments of my life because I know someone out there somewhere needed a laugh or needed some reassurance that it’s going to be okay.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Constantly scrolling and seeing everyone post the highlights of their life and not the struggle really got to me at one point. I took a break and reevaluated my relationship with social media and how I can have a more positive relationship with it. Once you realize that not everyone is going to show the bumps they had to go through to get to where they are now you learn to appreciate where you are and what you have.
