Rising Stars: Meet Matthew Moreno

Today we’d like to introduce you to Matthew Moreno.

Matthew, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey as a barber began when I was just 12 years old. It was often that we didn’t have a babysitter so I would have to hang out at the salon my mom worked at. Being there helped me pick up and gain basic knowledge of how to give a good fade so through school, I would carry clippers in my backpack to trim up anybody who would let me. At 20 years old, I chose to take up barbering as my profession, now at 28 years old, I have my own barbershop with 8 chairs always spinning and ready to service the Kemah/League City community.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
If I told you it was a smooth road I would be lying to you the old saying ‘nothing worth having comes easy’ is very true on the same token rewarding.

Being this is my first business it has been a good learning experience. we have been in operation for three years with almost half the time dealing with Covid-19 pandemic that put us through a temporary shutdown and detoured people from wanting to step foot into barbershops and salons, but as people, we learn to roll with the punches and keep moving forward.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a professional barber that operates one of the best barbershops in the Kemah/League City community. I’m very detailed with my work specializing in men’s classic cuts and shaves as well as great fades and beard shaping. I work alongside 8 other barbers who share the same passion for the craft and want to put out their best work possible, we are a place that men can come unwind, enjoy a cold one and shoot the breeze with their favorite barber. I’m very proud of the establishment we have built and the people who continue to support us to become who we are today.

How do you define success?
Success is hitting your mark. Your goals that you set for self-staying focused never losing sight of what you desire no matter the obstacles you face. It doesn’t matter how many times you get knocked down or how hard life can get to keep that fire burning and make it happen that it is success.
