Rising Stars: Meet Maya & Megan Evans

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maya & Megan Evans.

Hi Maya & Megan, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
We started this business from always feeling left out and excluded. Growing up having a larger size foot, to be specific a size 11 in the 7th grade, they were no cute shoes in that size. Every since we were young girls we always knew in our hearts we would create a business that would protect other women and girls from feeling how we felt. Being an athlete since we were 10 instilled hard work in us and we always knew to get the results you want, you have to put the work in. Fast forward to running a business, we are doing the same thing putting in the work to get the results we want.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Starting a business, there is new challenge every day but the reward at the end of it all makes it so worth it. The most challenging problem we have had are dealing with vendors out the country. We have had to custom order a lot of the shoes since we are providing shoes for larger feet. The productions of the shoes takes about 20 days at minimum and shipping can take 30-45 days. That is a very prolonged timeline, so we have to make sure we are ordering enough so we don’t run out of inventory. One day we will be able to have a factory in Houston and make our own shoes.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Megan – works for a tech company as a Sales Administrative Assistant and the CEO of TheSoleSistasCo

Maya- works for a tech company as a sales development representative and the CEO of TheSoleSistasCo

We are known for being triplets and being some of the best volleyball players here in Houston, Texas. We went to Bellaire High School and went to Alabama A&M University.

We are very happy to create a company that makes women/ girls feel inclusive and a part of something. What sets us apart from others is our determination. We have always been taught since babies we always have to outwork the person next to us and that’s exactly what separates us from others.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
