Today we’d like to introduce you to Mia Piper Leday and Jeanne Williams.
We’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
We are both originally from Lake Charles, Louisiana. My name is Mia Piper Leday and my co-host’s name is Jeanne Williams We are 2 best friends, since 10-11 years old who grew up together from middle school to present day. We have always stayed connected no matter where we are. I now reside in Houston, TX now and Jeanne currently resides in Baton Rouge, La.
All our lives, we’ve had these great conversations about all things life, love, questions that need answers, getting older, family issues and every other topic we could think of. We respect each other’s opinions and points of view very much. When we meet people who don’t know us, they always comment on how they just knew we had to be best friends, because our chemistry and conversation is effortless.
During the pandemic, we were having a series of intense, fantastic discussions and decided to create our own podcast (as a pandemic project) to give something creative to the city we are from, provide laughter, light and to let those who listen in our age range know that its okay to be 30+ and not have life fully figured out.
So we try to help ourselves and others by sharing tackling life’s toughest questions.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It started out amazing! Along the way, we’ve had to endure natural disasters and other life circumstances (i.e hurricanes, working from home, the freeze, staying safe during the pandemic, wedding planning)
We had a lot of time in the beginning, but as the world began to open up, we found our schedules to be extremely demanding. We noticed that we did not have as much time as we once had due to returning to work, unpredictability and uncertainty, family health challenges and life changes.
Aside from the podcast, although we usually talk –we found that we barely had any time to check in with each other and just talk. It’s a tough balancing act, so we try to give each other a lot of space, grace and flexibility when it comes to recording the show, editing and planning the content.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Mia – I am a high school teacher by profession. I specialize in rapport building and classroom culture. I am known for always being willing to lend a ear or a shoulder to those in need. I am most proud of continuing to find new ways to challenge myself in my career and in life. My motto is: I never back down from a challenge. What sets me apart from others is my tenacity. No matter what, I keep striving towards my dreams.
Jeanne – I am a hospitality manager by profession. I specialize in running day to day operations and oversee personnel, I am known for being the caring manager that everyone feels like they can talk to without judgment. I’m most proud of finally leveling up on my time management and organization skills. What sets me apart from others is my ability to remain calm through difficult situations.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Mia – Creating and living my dreams (all of them) wisely, yet without compromise is what matters most to me. I believe the most powerful thing we can do is have the courage to create a life we want to live and passionately pursue it.
Jeanne- Being authentically me. It took me a long time to know who I am in this world and now that I am having this rediscovery, I want to ensure my decision are my own and not based solely off of the influence of others.
