Hi Monica, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
Hello, my name is Monica Diaz. Born and raised in Houston, Tx. At age 17 I had my first job at Cavender’s boot city, I learned how to talk to clients and how to not be shy. Worked there for almost 7 years, I actually thought I would stay there forever until the summer of 2019, I decided to spend all my savings on my Canon Camera. I wasn’t scared to try this, Photography, I started doing giveaways so I could practice. Talking wasn’t a problem at all. I put my work experience with my new photography journey and it was working great!!!
In December 2019, I got engaged to the love of my life. That’s when I started thinking that 2 jobs and being a wife was going to be a little difficult. There was a moment when I realized photography was actually giving me more profit, but I was scared to leave my first job that I had moved myself up for a long time. Until what I had been waiting for didn’t go my way. That was my sign!! October 2020 left Cavenders and went full time on photography. I make my own schedule, make my own vacation time, and I’M MY OWN BOSS!!! We got married in June 2019, we had our wedding in October 2021, November 2021 we find out we have a little peanut on our way. I feel blessed, my photography business keeps growing, I actually have an assistant, and gave my mom a job to help me with sessions. Diaz Photography will keep growing I have Faith!!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Smooth road? Not at all, I have learned from my mistakes.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a photographer, I shoot mostly Maternity, portraits, weddings I specialize on being different, I know there’s a lot of photographers but I know I do give a good experience for them.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Covid19 actually helped my business, that’s when I was working at Cavender’s and because I wasn’t too busy I had time to learn how to use my camera better.
