Rising Stars: Meet Né

Today we’d like to introduce you to Né.

Hi Né, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Né, born Jenné Allen, is a Houston-born rapper and singer. Né grew up listening to every genre of music available and found her place in Hip Hop/R&B. Through her childhood and professional life, music pushed Né through the worst times and lifted her to the best Né’s musical inspiration comes from timeless artists such as Sade, Nas, and J. Cole. Né officially began her music career in 2019 when her first visit to a small recording studio got her fascinated with production. Since then, she has been self-disciplined, self-taught, and self-made.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
No, the road has not been smooth. The biggest struggle for me to go through is finding self-confidence in myself to pursue this dream. Putting myself out there and being in the public eye is uncomfortable for me, but I know that’s something that comes with being a rapper. Finding my sound and how I want people to view me. Deciding which steps to take to further my career because I have wasted a bit of money when it came to dealing with shady marketers. There is definitely a risk with this career path.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a rapper that prides myself on being a lyricist. I would say my most known track so far is “Heavy Heart,” which I did my first live performance to. I am most proud of my individuality. To elaborate on that, there are a great number of artists that sound the same in the industry today. I feel as though it’s lacking creativity. I think I’m unique because I take my time to create; it’s quality over quantity for me. I do not rush my process for anyone, and I run my race at my own pace.

What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Be Patient. There is no “overnight success”; this is a tireless grind. Discouragement may come at times, but patience and discipline will keep me focused on the bigger picture. This dream is something that’s important to me, so I can’t throw in the towel easily.
