Today we’d like to introduce you to Raquel Oliver.
Hi Raquel, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have always had a passion for doing hair, I started as a little girl at the age of 10. Hair has always sparked my interest.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road. I have been faced with almost every obstacle you can think of, from being a teen mom to starting cosmetology school and then having to quit because I didn’t have the funds to cover my tuition, but I’m thankful to God that I was able to make it through.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I own a hair salon, and I’m also a hairstylist. I specialize in extensions and wigs. My most proudest moment to date is opening my first salon in Houston, TX. I think what sets me apart is my attitude; I am not like all Houston stylist. I have always had a good attitude, and my client always comes first.
We’d love to hear about what you think about risk-taking.
Being an entrepreneur is all about taking risk. I am where I’m at today because I decided to take a risk. I’m originally from Mississippi, small-town girl with big dreams. I decided in 2017 to close my established salon that was located in Hattiesburg, Ms. to move to an unknown city and try my luck, lol and let’s just say God has been good to me!
