Today we’d like to introduce you to Roberto-Carlos and Luis.
Hi Roberto-Carlos, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
We started RL Design in the middle of the COVID 19 pandemic. Luis and I were both working for another events company and we were both laid off the moment the pandemic hit. We knew we wanted to start our own design and flowers company but we were giving ourselves a year before we stepped out on our own, but God had different plans. We literally had the conversation in Jan. of 2020 and then three months later, the country shut down. So as we sat in our apartment we said, well I guess we can start now! That’s when RL was officially started. I started to message our family and friends and tell them, hey guys if you need flowers, we’re your guys. We started doing daily floral because nobody was having events or gatherings. We started with a small Easter collection and our friends at Uncle Beans Coffee Shop gave us the opportunity to set up a small pop-up. I told Luis, if we sell ten arrangements, I will be so happy! We sold 60 arrangements!
Then I said, well we have to do a Mother’s Day Collection because people actually send flowers for Mother’s Day. We sold 135 arrangements. We literally cleared out our apartment living room and kitchen and filled it with buckets and buckets of flowers and vases. I was like, babe we sold 135 arrangements, how the heck are we going to deliver these? Thank the Lord we made it happen. That point on things took off. Things started to open up again and slowly but surely we started getting busier and busier. In September a fellow designer friend reached out and asked if we could design some Christmas trees for a corporate office and I was like yeah sure, they were like great, we need 5 9ft trees. I looked at Luis and was like where the heck are we going to store these trees until December??? Two months later, we were moving into our first studio. Since then, everything has opened back up and we have been going at 100. RL has just turned two years old and we’re so excited to see where God continues to take us.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been the smoothest road, but it’s definitely been a fun ride.

We are event designers. We provide full-scale event production, design, decor, flowers and more. We work with all sorts of clients and create all sorts of events, from small intimate dinner parties, to weddings, corporate, social and branding. I think our unique floral designs is what sets us apart from others, our love for lavish and lush creations.
